in comics is of course the adaptation of the long-running and cult favorite science-fiction television program produced by the BBC about a space-time traveling alien known as "the Doctor" who, together with his companions, explore time and space, solving problems, facing monsters and righting wrongs. IDW Publishing currently publishes the ongoing Dr. Who series. In terms of creativity, look and even texture as compared with the TV series, the pair of Tony Lee and Matthew Smith have created the most authentic feeling Dr. Who tales ever.

Vincent Price starred in the 1959 horror-thriller film "The Tingler " directed by producer and director William Castle. In the film a pathologist, Dr. Warren Chapin (played by Vincent Price), discovers that the tingling of the spine in states of extreme fear is due to the growth of a "tingler"—a spinal parasite which can kill the host unless it is destroyed by screaming. The film was equal parts imaginative, creepy, funny, weird, ludicrous and contrived with external gimmickry but at its best moments it was indeed a spine-tingler. Now Bluewater serves up a special two-part limited series from its ongoing Vincent Price Presents title that is a direct sequel to that 1959 classic with writer Mark Millar and artist Alex Lopez. This, too, is a tingler.

Of all the Marvel titles that are doing Noir minis, Luke Cage seems the most obvious to adapt. Setting Cage in the Prohibition-era Harlem after a ten year sentence in prison, the environment and texture of noir seems comfortable for this character first seen in 1972. The Noir series will deliver the appropriate amount of murder and street brawling. Cage can’t wait to return to the arms of his woman and to the familiar surroundings of Lil Walt’s Barbershop for the local gossip. To the locals, he’s a hero; to Willis Stryker, the Godfather of Harlem and El Barrio, Cage is just trouble that needs to be eradicated. Trouble - that’s all Cage believes he was born for.
