Nothing earth-shattering here; simply a good comic book story confidently, competently done right, and which would ably pass the baton to the new creative team that will handle the next issue. Surely if Conan can do it, there's no reason why Red Sonja can't. Writer Joshua Ortega improves on the narrative flow but it is the artwork of Mel Rubi that stands out. Literally as bloody good as ever. Also immediately obvious is the fact that Red Sonja's chain mail bikini has now become a micro string chain mail bikini. From a hundred or so interlocking rings her front loin flap now sports at most twenty-five, and the once approximately thirty rings covering each of her breasts are now reduced to a perfect triangle of nine rings each. I suppose in those ancient times the higher a female warrior goes up the ranks of mobility the lesser her body covering becomes. Not that we're complaining. In fact we hope to see those loin flaps flap more often.
