Sergio Caputo è nato a Roma nel 1954.
La grande fama inizia verso la metà degli anni '80 con le incisioni per la CGD, più precisamente nel 1983 quando pubblica l'album Un sabato italiano, dove crea uno stile musicale brioso e coinvolgente che si rifà al mambo e allo swing degli anni '50, unito a testi dove sviluppa una forte dose di ironia a volte graffiante, anche se la sua musica é stata influenzata da artisti jazz che vanno da Fats Waller a Cole Porter. E proprio la canzone omonima di quell'album, "Un sabato italiano", continua ad essere ascoltata e conosciuta di generazione in generazione, senza subire quell'invecchiamento che sarebbe stato lecito aspettarsi…

This is second Basie's collection of Beatles songs. This one surpasses the earlier release in both musicianship and by having Bob Florence do the arrangements. While my favorite Basie stuff is from the 50's, and the albums he did with Frank Sinatra, these are really good arrangements and the band swings. If you love the music of Count Basie and the music of the Beatles, you will not be disappointed with this CD. This is a great example of late 1960s big band jazz.
