' After growing frustrated with James Brown's fleeting focus, and a decline in the popularity of the sound the original JB's left to join George Clinton's "Parliament". James Brown continued to tour with differing versions of the J.B.'s, including a late-'70s outfit dubbed the J.B.'s International, but for all intents and purposes, the true J.B.'s no longer existed. This is the last of the James Brown produced JB's Albums. However, though mainly written and produced by James Brown this record is more disco-orientated. It's an absolute must for people who want to discover another aspect from these funkmeisters. ' source: discomusic.com

You can hear it in the opening bars of the opening number. It’s the sound of a real singer, in a proper recording studio taking on the blues and winning hands down. It may be something in the air in Cosmos Studios beautiful live room, but it is definitely something in the voice of twenty one year old Jasmine Kara. Of Swedish and Iranian descent, with a sultry beauty that belies the strength of her voice and an ability to bare her soul. It could be that her time in New York helped her lift her game, gave her a steely determination to make the music that she wanted to, and an idea on how to do it, but a talent like this was always likely to shine through. The Tri-Sound label have taken this talent and given it the setting in which to shine and ‘Blues Ain’t Nothing But A Good Woman Gone Bad’ is the result.

With his indelible, elastic tone, restless curiosity, and open-eared approach to music beyond the traditional corridors of jazz, guitarist Bill Frisell is among the most prolific and continually surprising improvisers alive. Quartet is built around a typically inventive, typically off-centered Frisell lineup including Ron Miles (trumpet, piccolo trumpet), Eyvind Kang (violin, tuba), and Curtis Fowlkes (trombone) who draw from a sonorous palette. By avoiding a conventional rhythm section and piano, Frisell and his confederates create a group sound with the intimacy of small jazz group while tapping the timbres of chamber music; the material (which includes pieces composed for a TV special built around friend Gary Larson's "Far Side" cartoons) is equally beyond category

This legendary blues-jam band is rolling past three decades now, and this fiery swinging collection is one of their most powerful and varied recordings ever. In addition to the "Tower of Power on speed" energies that have earned them various awards, critical accolades, and a devoted following, this collection boasts dashes of funk, soul, the inimitable saxman Rich Lataille, and the crisp guitar excitement of Chris Vachon. At the forefront is the raspy vocal believability of Mac Odom. It's always interesting how the best blues bands can make songs of despair sound so joyous, but Roomful of Blues also takes a few more wistful looks at romance……
