Well, three CDs for £11.95 (at the time of writing) containing over three hours forty-five minutes of music can't be bad! We have tracks donated by well known favourites such as Binar, RMI, Skin Mechanix and AirSculpture plus some of the more successful new kids on the block: The Omega Syndicate, Create and The Glimmer Room. That is not all though as this collection also provides an opportunity for some of those artists who are currently just 'bubbling under the surface' to be heard. Binar are represented by 'Curious Things Inside the Snowmine' combining nice body moving beats with fitting samples and melodies. It's a good track but there are much better ones on their recent albums.

"The Funeral of Hearts" is a song by Finnish band HIM, released in 2003. It is the second track and first single from the album Love Metal. Known as one of HIM's most popular songs, it is usually used to close live shows.

A music video was filmed for the song, produced by Stefan Lindfors. It shows the band performing in a dream-like wintery atmosphere in Lapland, and encountering mythical creatures. In 2004 it won a Kerrang! award for Best Video.

The Finnish band HIM remade this song, first using it in their demo This is Only the Beginning, then in their EP 666 Ways To Love: Prologue, then another recording on their first album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666, and lastly on the British and American versions of their second album Razorblade Romance. The last recording they made of it then reappeared on their compilation album And Love Said No - The Greatest Hits 1997-2004. With "Wicked Game" on their EP and first album, HIM gained fame in their native Finland. HIM frontman Ville Valo had this to say about "Wicked Game": "I went to Pasila's library and borrowed the soundtrack-vinyl of Wild At Heart and recorded it on tape. So with Linde we tried to 'learn' the song from the tape. It was kind of funny, that we learnt the song a bit wrong. We didn't hear the guitar parts well enough from that 'bad quality' tape. We also heard the lyrics wrong, and when the song was later recorded to our first EP, there were a few funny mistakes in the lyrics."

Alexander Vinitsky is a guitarist, composer, and professor who was trained in Russia at Gresnin's Academy. He writes guitar music, conducts masterclasses on "Classical Guitar in Jazz," and gives concerts. He has toured throughout Israel, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, and Hungary. Alexander's concert repertoire includes his own compositions, which display a variety of styles, as well as arrangements of jazz standards by Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers, A. C. Jobim, J. Zavinul, L. Bonfa, and G. Gilberto. Vinitsky currently teaches classical guitar at Gnesin's Music College. Alexander's output includes 9 recordings and numerous books of arrangements and original pieces.

Abracadabra is a disheartening latter-day album from ABC, who are attempting to stay modern by incorporating both house and smooth Philly soul flourishes to their sound. Occasionally, the results sound supple and alluring, but the record is undone by a complete lack of strong, melodic songs, as well as what sounds like Martin Fry's indifference to the material.

ABC's formula started to sound tired on their fifth album, which completed their contract with PolyGram, and unlike their first four, missed the charts in the U.S., while managing only one week on the U.K. charts. The singles "One Better World" and "The Real Thing" were likewise only minor hits in England and nonentities in America.

AON hit their stride with the release of this record, while showing their colors in the choices of material — while the usual offbeat AON elements were present, so was "Peter Gunn," with Duane Eddy guesting on guitar. Another AON hit, "Legs," was present, as was the original version of "Paranoimia," enhanced in its single versions by the addition of routines from Max Headroom performed by Matt Frewer, who would later play the digital ding-a-ling on a short-lived TV series. The Frewer versions replaced the original on some pressings, including the original CD, but the original version has since been restored, with both Frewer versions now confined to best-of collections.

Spiralight Recordings is on a roll. First came Magic Sound Fabric's solid album, Uplift Drift, followed by Richard Bone's superb Alternate Realities. Now, here's the latest offering from electronica/ambient artist zerO One (a.k.a. Kevin Dooley), pSy-fI - an excellent assortment of various rhythmic EM/ambient tracks, all of them featuring outstanding engineering and production as well as music that is never less than good and frequently is fantastic. While the album starts better than it finishes, it never lags or disappoints, either.
