Midwest based quartet Jungle Rot have garnered a vast and devoted following over the last 15 years. The sound and attitude Jungle Rot have built is one of efficiency and execution. Having never tried to be the goriest or most technical band in the extreme underground scene, JUNGLE ROT have instead focused on flowing grooves and infectious, catchy, quality songwriting. Their seventh full length album, 'Kill On Command', is pure, thrash-inspired, old school death metal with a touch of Hardcore guaranteed to cause a serious case of whiplash.

"East of Eden" was a British progressive rock band, who had a top 10 hit in the UK with the single "Jig-a-Jig", which did not resemble their usual sound or anything else they normally played. Combining flutes, saxes, violins and tape loops to folk, blues and psychedelic music, the East of Eden style was always heavily supported on a pure rock base, strong and experimental. This is 2001 German reissue of their 1971 album. The highlight is "Crazy Daisy," a pungent hard rock jazz jam, which alone makes the album worth seeking.

Orginally recorded in 1976, this production features a live performance from Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. The usual suspects make up the band – Bill Hardman on Trumpet, Mickey Tucker on piano, Cameron Brown on bass, and Blakey on his signature drums – and songs include "Backgammon," "Along Came Betty," "Uranus," "Blues March," "All the Things You Are," and "Gipsy Folk Tales." Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers on disc has trailers for other TDK jazz releases and a text biography of Art Blakey. The 4:3 picture is sometimes slightly soft and displays the usual faults of live concert footage shot on video, but is generally much better than expected for its age. The sound defaults to good stereo but the Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 remixes add considerably to the sense of a occasion. The DTS track is particularly weighty and almost tangible in its presence.

Ken Peplowski shows his diversity on this blending of two sessions, the first 8 tunes reuniting him with pianist Shelly Berg with rhythm support of Tom Kennedy and Jeff Hamilton and the remaining 3 tunes pairing off with bassist Greg Cohen, drummer Joe Ascione and vibist Chuck Redd. Peplowski's clarinet playing is unrivaled with the purist tone and most urbane facility around today. His tenor sound, while reminiscent of Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster is easily distinguishable as his and his alone.

Harold Land is an underrated tenor saxophonist whose tone has hardened with time and whose improvising style after the 1960s became influenced by (but not a copy of) John Coltrane. He grew up in San Diego and started playing tenor when he was 16. After working locally and making his recording debut for Savoy (1949), Land had his first high-profile gig in 1954 when he joined the Clifford Brown/Max Roach Quintet. Land performed and recorded with the group until late 1955 when due to family problems he had to return home to Los Angeles (where he has been based ever since).

After spending nearly nine months as a guest of the Texas penal system, veteran rocker David Crosby emerged from his incarceration sober and brimming with ideas that had previously been stunted due to decades of substance abuse. In many ways Oh Yes I Can (1989) – Crosby's second solo effort during his two-decade-plus career – is a musical rebuttal to his equally vital debut effort, If I Could Only Remember My Name (1971). Even the album's title appears to indicate his newly achieved success and freedom from the haze that so indelibly influenced the earlier compositions.
