Since Home Plate brought Bonnie Raitt within shooting distance of the Top 40, thereby being the greatest chart success she yet attained, it made sense that she re-teamed with its producer Paul A. Rothchild for its follow-up, Sweet Forgiveness. Rothchild's modus operandi remains slickness, but he has backed away from his fondness for studio musicians, letting Raitt record the majority of the record with her touring band (who only were spotted occasionally throughout Homeplate).
Homeplate takes Bonnie Raitt even further down the path toward mainstream production than the unjustly maligned Streetlights, but, ironically, it works better than its predecessor
In the spring of 1963, in the last full year of his life, Eric Dolphy recorded nine tracks in New York with producer Alan Douglas. Working with an ensemble that was mixed and matched in different configurations and included Prince Lasha on flute, Clifford Jordan on soprano sax, Woody Shaw on trumpet, Huey Simmons on alto sax, Bobby Hutcherson on vibraphone (there was no pianist at the sessions), bassists Richard Davis and Eddie Kahn, and drummers J.C. Moses and Charles Moffett, Dolphy tracked material that clearly anticipated his landmark Out to Lunch album that appeared in 1964 while still providing a bridge to the more traditionally accessible work that preceded it. ~ AllMusic
Boucan d'enfer is a studio album from French artist Renaud. It was released in 2002 and published by Virgin Records. It was Renaud's first production with original material since 1994's À la belle de mai. It marked Renaud's comeback to the musical scene after years of alcoholism. Some of the songs thus refer to this period, especially the first track, Docteur Renaud, Mister Renard which opposes the good and the bad sides of the past and present Renaud in an obvious parody of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde. The track was released as a single and proved a minor success hitting number 25 on the French charts. His separation from his wife is also very present in the lyrics, but the usual social themes haven't been left out either. Petit pédé is the story of a homosexual who left his country town after his coming out. But the song Manhattan-Kaboul, a duet with Belgian Axelle Red…
This DVD features a new 60-minute film covering Plant's entire career after Led Zeppelin. Includes an in-depth interview with the artist covering each album, plus interviews with friends and colleagues Roger Daltrey, Phil Collins, Tori Amos, Roy Harper, Lenny Kravitz, and others. The DVD also features full-length clips of 20 music videos in both stereo and 5.1 Surround.
To reward longtime King Crimson fanatics who waited ten long years (1984-1994) for new studio material, the band issued this EP of six tracks that would (for the most part) later appear on the full-length THRAK. The band is caught at its rawest and most passionate, erasing any doubts that may have surfaced concerning whether the regrouped KC could still cut it. They haven't rocked this hard in years, the proof being in the first two songs – the long and winding instrumental title track and "Sex Sleep Eat Drink Dream," which contains some classic paranoid Adrian Belew vocals.
Niezapomniana i wspaniała Ewa Demarczyk. Jej druga płyta, wydana w 1974 roku, zawiera m.in. słynny utwór "Rebeka" oraz rosyjskojęzyczne wersje wybranych przebojów.
Niedoścignione arcydzieło polskiej piosenki aktorskiej. Aż dziw bierze, kiedy uświadomimy sobie, że ten album został zarejestrowany przed 34 laty. Wspaniały głos i niesamowita interpretacja Demarczyk sprawiają, że gdy słuchamy płyty nie raz przejdą nas dreszcze. Wokalistka wykonuje wiersze Białoszewskiego, Tuwima, Leśmiana, Baczyńskiego i innych. Mimo że na płycie dominuje jej głos, to równie istotna jest muzyka i aranżacje Zygmunta Koniecznego. Czasem wykorzystuje on skromne instrumentarium, innym razem całą orkiestrę Polskiego Radia.
