Music pioneer Steve Hackett has announced the release of his new solo album Wolflight. Wolflight is Steve's first original solo studio album since Beyond The Shrouded Horizon in 2011. Primal and orchestral, it retains the Hackett trademark as electric guitar runs right the way through with a regular sprinkling of acoustic. The concept behind it is a new unexplored chapter in the guitarist's career.The ten tracks take the listener through a journey in space and time looking at the different faces of the endless fight for freedom. Wandering between parallel universes, Hackett explores contemporary and ancient cultures, from Greece (Corycian Fire) to the Far East (Wolflight), the USA and Martin Luther King (Black Thunder), but also his very own childhood memories (The Wheel's Turning) and the unresolved drama of domestic violence (Love Song to a Vampire).

One thing's for sure. Damnation Angels is consistent. Their latest album, The Valiant Fire, is simply another chapter in the same symphonic power metal book which they started a few years back.

According to Bilson, Schubert's phrases are designed for instruments whose notes die away more quickly than they do on the modern piano. Whatever the reason, Bilson, here playing on a colorful-sounding Graf fortepiano from 1835, gives extremely effective and convincing performances of both of these major Schubert sonatas, which gain in transparency from the early instrument without losing their emotional force. Very highly recommended.

On her 29th album, Emmylou Harris continues the evolution from innocent folkie to present day renaissance woman. Alternately sparse and lush, Red Dirt Girl can be seen as a companion piece to 1995's Wrecking Ball with the production credits going to Malcom Burn (who previously worked with Harris engineering and mixing Wrecking Ball).
