Formed by world reknown keyboardist Jim Alfredson (organissimo, Dirty Fingers, Janiva Magness, Greg Nagy Band, Root Doctor) Theo harkens back to the keyboard-centric superbands of the 1970s like Yes, Genesis, and Emerson Lake and Palmer, but with a distinctly modern and bold approach. Theo also represents a return to the concept of the keyboardist as a vital and irreplaceable part of the group, rather than a mere sideman. The intrepid and dynamic music is paired with auspicious lyrical themes of corporatization, consumerism, loss of innocence, exile, and the obsession with celebrity. Lead vocals are handled by Alfredson himself. Usually relegated to background duties, Alfredson's surprisingly flexible baritone voice shifts from soaring muscularity to intimate falsetto and everything between. The eponymous debut album features six tracks including an epic three song opening suite comprising 24 minutes.

Bay of Kings is the seventh solo album from former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. It is Hackett's first full album of classical guitar music, completely instrumental. When Hackett's record company, Charisma Records, refused to release the album over concerns about its commercial viability, Hackett left the label and released Bay of Kings through independent record company Lamborghini Records (started by the Swiss Patric Mimran who owned the car company at that time). It was later reissued by his own Camino Records. His wife at the time, Kim Poor, originally painted a nude portrait for the cover, but it was replaced for the Camino reissue by a painting of her husband.

Mars Bonfire's late-'60s material occasionally bears some resemblance to Steppenwolf, particularly in the use of heavy organs. But in fact this is certainly on the lighter and more pop-flecked side than Steppenwolf, which might both disappointment Steppenwolf fans who seek this out on the basis of the "Born to Be Wild" connection, and make this LP a rather pleasant surprise to those fearing bombastic late-'60s hard rock on the order of Steppenwolf's less impressive aspects…

Barbara Russell was a singer with a vibrant, arresting vocal quality, a fine sense of phrasing and feel for a lyric, and an utterly captivating style. She was also a tall, willowy blonde, a commanding presence and a “star” in every respect. It made for a performer capable of holding an audience from the first note and maintaining the interest and excitement throughout the entire performance. Zello is excellent prog band from Sweden. The violin plays a prominent role. The musicianship is excellent and the solos fiery. This band creates elaborated themes with rich arrangements and sophistical orchestrations. Their instrumental music is delicate and includes some tense part. The elaboration of their arrangements reminds of Outer Limits and has strong influences from Kansas. "Zello" and "Quodlibet" are an excellent albums, modern prog without any discernable neo influence, and above all, great material.
