Drummer/band leader/vocalist Hamilton Bohannon's modus operandi was shuffling, syncopated grooves that made you boogie to the beats. "Summertime Groove" exemplifies the Bohannon sound, as does the funky, potent "Let's Start the Dance," featuring Carolyn Crawford on vocals. "Me and the Gang," "The Street Dance," and the lesser of the rump-shakers, "Listen to the Children Play," continue the party atmosphere. This is pure uncut boogie music.

Introducing Johnny Griffin is the debut album by jazz tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin. It was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's Hackensack studio on April 17, 1956. For the sceptics of modern listening, who have been claiming otherwise, Max Roach has once again proven that his drumming is not only that of a soloist, but that of the all important pace-setter of the rhythm section. All of the good taste, fire, spark, imagination, dynamics, SWING, and technique which NO other drummer possesses to his -nth degree, is so readily heard that no further comment is necessary. The release of this, the first Johnny Griffin LP, proves many things. Mainly, of course, that here is a young, talented tenor saxophonist who, for too long, has been taken for granted, and who will, no doubt, soon be reaping some of his past due rewards.

The debut recording of classically trained Swiss clarinetist Hans Koch’s jazz trio with bassist/cellist Martin Schutz and drummer Marco Kappeli, Acceleration is not a shy blip in the fascinating potpourri of ECM’s 80s period, by which time Koch’s formidable outfit had left its footprints in standard territories before branching out here with a set of nine originals. Into this, the shivering cello and pointillist rims of “Shy Csardas” provide a fitting point of entry. Like an opera overture these sounds recede as quickly as they rise, making way for the clarineted protagonist whose introductory aria secures a tether of human folly to the romantic sentiments that follow.

Austrian band HEATHEN FORAY signed a deal with Massacre records who will release the third album of the band "Into Battle" on April 24th.

The master of the piano must surely be Frédéric Chopin. Every one of his compositions includes the piano in some form, yet within his oeuvre there is still an exciting variety of music to be found. Chopin made the solo piano form into an art, extensively developing various styles – including the piano sonata, waltz, polonaise and impromptu – and heavily popularising others for the first time, such as the Polish mazurka, the form he often chose to express his nationalism.

The album is prepared in London with Johnny Arthey and tweaked at CBE with Bernard Estardy. Needless to say, it is literally stuffed with hits: "Et si tu n'existais pas", "Il faut naitre a Monaco", "Ca va pas changer le monde", "Salut"… The disc is released for Christmas holidays, supported by a little promo record. It is a smash success in France, as well as the forty-five with "Ca va pas changer le monde" and "Il faut naitre a Monaco", released promptly in January.
