Don Carlo is here presented in the full 5 Act Italian version and this performance is under the inspired direction of Carlo Maria Giulini who had celebrated the 'new' Covent Garden centenary with this opera in 1958. The cast then was different, but the Royal Opera Orchestra and Chorus remain, and they're on cracking form.

Another album performed by the orchestra of the pianist, organist, composer and English director Frank Chacksfield (East Sussex, 1914-1995), internationally well known especially in the 50 and 60 by his orchestral style of easy listening music. Many great conductors have posted versions of Hawaiian music, but in this album Chacksfield can appreciate the uniqueness and quality of the instrumental arrangements, seeking brilliance, modulation and emulation of the original music. The surround sound of his music certainly takes us to the evocation of traditions, sunsets and native landscapes. Music for relaxation and dreaming.

Album with a compilation of 14 songs selected from the recordings of the last 7 albums released between 1969 and 1973 by the pianist, arranger, composer and British director Ronald F. Ronnie Aldrich (1916-1993), accompanied here by the 'London Festival Orchestra'. The repertoire, recorded with the sound, thoroughness and balance of instrumental arrangements by Aldrich, integrates themes of the most famous internationally in those years. It is a good session of easy listening music by the virtuous pianist Ronnie Aldrich.

Lead guitarist Dave Davies offers commentary on a number of the Kinks most well known songs on this documentary that contains a wealth of little-seen footage of the band performing. In addition to anecdotes from other members of the band, the filmmakers include snippets of "You Really Got Me," "Waterloo Sunset," "Celluloid Heroes," and "Lola." Although they weren't as boldly innovative as the Beatles or as popular as the Rolling Stones or the Who, the Kinks were one of the most influential bands of the British Invasion. Like most bands of their era, the Kinks began as an R&B/blues outfit. Within four years, the band had become the most staunchly English of all their contemporaries, drawing heavily from British music hall and traditional pop, as well as incorporating elements of country, folk, and blues.
