KING OF ASGARD took form in 2008 by founder Karl Beckman. Teaming up with long time fellow worker, Karsten Larsson, once together in the well known viking horde Mithotyn. Now re-entering their roots, the foundation of King of Asgard was a fact. Both musically as well as in the Norse heritage used as lyrical approach.This is the band's upcoming second full length album. It's going to be released on July 31st through Metal Blade Records.

Diamond in the Mind: Live 2011, was filmed at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England on December 16, and features a set list that's heavy on the classics, yet respectful of the band's well-received, Mick Ronson-produced All You Need Is Now. A winning blend of style and substance, it's remarkable how well Duran Duran have aged since their '80s heyday. The band tears through ancient (by pop culture standards) radio staples such as "The Reflex" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" with the same enthusiasm that they afford more recent offerings like "Girl Panic" and "Before the Rain," teasing the audience with a rowdy mash-up of 1984's "Wild Boys" and Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" before sealing the deal with a seven-and-a-half-minute version of "Rio."

Over the years, one of the nice things about Delmark Records has been its willingness to document talented but obscure improvisers. If Delmark leader Bob Koester felt that a little known jazzman needed to be recorded, he would do so simply on the basis of artistic merit. In 1994, one such improviser was Andrew Lamb, an expressive, probing tenor saxophonist along the lines of Rahsaan Roland Kirk, John Coltrane and Yusef Lateef. Avoiding overdone standards, the post-bopper does all of the writing on this pianoless CD, which employs Warren Smith on vibes, Wilber Morris on bass and Andrei Strobert on drums.

Though known for their party-folk metal anthems, 'Manala' takes a more serious tone, focusing on Finnish history as written in the ancient 'Kalevala' (something fellow Finns Amorphis have always drawn inspiration from). A fascinating and compelling new turn for the band, with all lryics in Finnish, except for the final bonus track, made especially for their North American fans. The second CD is the entire album sung in English!

The Estonian Heino Eller (1887–1970) is probably best known as the teacher of Arvo Pärt – but he was a prolific and original composer in his own right. His substantial output for piano – this series will contain seven CDs – was written over a period of six decades and thus reflects a range of styles. Taking the lyricism of Chopin and Grieg as its starting point, it combines the influence of Estonian folksong, Scriabin’s troubled harmonies, the epic northern colouring of Sibelius and, at times, Prokofiev’s motoric energy into an attractively individual manner.

It's hard to fill a music documentary with the same energy that ignited the movement, but Live Forever succeeds in charting the rise and decline of the Britpop genre with ease. Looking back on the 1990s phenomenon, it removes the rose-tinted spectacles that are so often donned for such retrospectives and looks at the trend and hype through a refreshing political perspective hinging around the New Labour government. It's fascinating to see how the spin doctors went to work on this new youth culture to increase popularity with voters. It was a time of political change, when, after long Conservative rule, people were looking forward to the future, and Cool Britannia filled a cultural hole.
