Chick Churchill was a keyboardist in Ten Years After and without a doubt his only solo album (released by Chrysalis in November 1973) is an unfairly forgotten rock gem with quite strong, progressive influences. And what a great line-up played on that record! Martin Barre, Cozy Powell, Leo Lyons, Rick Lee, Roger Hodgson, Bernie Marsden, Gary Pickford-Hopkins - it’s really hard to imagine a better configuration on one record! LP was dominated to a certain extent by the keyboards (organ, piano & mellotron), but also offered a lot of space for other instruments. This nicely sounding and very professionally produced album contained quite powerful, but very stylish tracks similar in style to the music of Wishbone Ash, Procol Harum and Wild Turkey.

Ford Theatre were one of the most promising and best US psychedelic bands of the 60 ‘s. A few months after truly excellent Trilogy For The Masses debut LP (from December 1968) they released another concept album for ABC Records - Time Changes. Influenced by the recent works of The Beatles, The Byrds and Love, this slightly more commercial and unjustly underrated record was a kind of musical based on one man’s life. The music itself was very diverse, ranged from dark, atmospheric and ambitious tracks full of hard rock guitar-organ interplay, to much lighter sounds usually coupled with lush sound of strings. This record (an early production by Bill Szymczyk) is specially recommended for those who like classic 60’s rock sound.

Yngwie Johann Malmsteen is a Swedish guitarist, composer, multi-instrumentalist and bandleader. Malmsteen became famous and very influential for his neo-classic approach in heavy metal music, and is often seen as one of the greatest electric guitarists of all time.Malmsteen is known for his technical fluency and neo-classical metal compositions, often incorporating high speed picking with harmonic minor scales, diminished scales and sweep picked arpeggios. He is often considered one of the most talented rock guitarists of all time and is considered to be a pioneer of shred guitar.Also, Malmsteen favors the harmonic minor scale, and often uses diminished arpeggios and phrygian scales and draws an influence from Bach and Beethoven. In an interview, Malmsteen confessed that his regular use of harmonic minor was because in the 1980s he was trying to move away from the blues-based pentatonic scales that were frequently used at the time.

The third and final live album put together from recordings of Frank Zappa's 1988 concerts, the two-CD set Make a Jazz Noise Here focuses on the composer's instrumental pieces – which are not necessarily jazzy, by the way. As for the three vocal tracks included ("Stinkfoot," "Stevie's Spanking," and "Advance Romance"), they all feature interesting solos. The set presents old favorites, like the medley "Let's Make the Water Turn Black"/"Harry, You're a Beast," "King Kong," and "The Black Page." They are well-performed, but considering the number of versions of each of them available on other recordings, they hardly constitute the main interest of this album.

Globally, Clegg is probably best recalled for "Scatterlings of Africa," understandably the leadoff track here. If not his manifesto (which was established long before his international fame), it makes his point, the mixing of rock and Zulu music, quite succinctly and wonderfully – and he was doing it long before it became fashionable (indeed, while it was illegal under South Africa's apartheid laws). (…) Johnny Clegg & Savuka were always about more than the music, however; they put it together politically, too, a huge act of defiance that was reflected in the lyrics and sound. As the man said, think and dance.

…the record still shows more style, substance and originality than most post-alternative guitar combos. It may not find Jonathan Fire*Eater fulfilling their potential, but Wolf Songs for Lambs remains a strong debut. 4,5/5

The avenue filled with light, not usual, but some especially native, light of passed years, warm and bright, painting dull gray buildings in soft colors, so they also become pleasant and dear. Birds fly in the sky, and their shadows are turned into bizarre silhouettes on the hot asphalt. The melody is sweeping above the avenue, so familiar, as if we know it for life, it is slightly disturbing, but opens up vistas of the future. Things becomes so colorful for the ones who are ready to perceive versatile beauty of the world.

Music for individuals, who believe in ordinary of post-modern conceptions of language and also in transformer vault's mystic essence. The collage of separate diverse scenes presented as stills of possible tragic or weird events. Made in a tradition of early electronic music, it shows the dull pictures of polar station, maybe abandoned and partially deenergized, odd labs with obscure aggregation, containers with viscous liquids. In general, all that we have a great opportunity to watch in science fiction films.
