The virtuoso jazz fusion unit Tribal Tech were formed in 1984 by guitarist Scott Henderson and bassist Gary Willis, debuting a year later with Spears. Over the course of subsequent efforts including 1987's Dr. Hee, 1990's Nomad, and 1992's Illicit, both Henderson and Willis emerged among the most acclaimed instrumentalists in contemporary jazz, with each frequently topping music magazine best-of lists; in the wake of 1995's Reality Check, Tribal Tech went on hiatus to allow the members the opportunity to pursue solo projects, finally reuniting four years later for Thick.

The 5th Dimension were just about the most successful harmony group of the 1960s and The Ultimate 5th Dimension is easily the most comprehensive single-disc collection on the market. It documents the heyday of the group, mostly their late-'60s tenure with Johnny Rivers' Soul City label and a few tracks from their '70s stay at Bell, and it focuses on their singles – their hit singles, that is. Each of the 20 songs here (the 21st track is a previously unreleased song, "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye") was a Top 35 hit or better. "Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In" and "Wedding Bell Blues" were their number one smashes; they also had four more Top Ten hits.

In April 1964 veteran R&B impresarios George Goldner, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller teamed up with the multi-talented producer/songwriting team of Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich and launched Red Bird Records in New York City. This was a match made in heaven. Over the next several years the Red Bird label would release some of the most exciting pop records ever recorded. And while it wasn't really planned that way, nearly 90% of the labels successful releases were by female groups or solo artists. "The Girl Group Sound" features 25 of these single releases from the Red Bird catalog.

    MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 15 Tracks | 49:58 | 116 MB
Genre: Jazz, Vocal Jazz, Soul Jazz | Label: Babydoll Entertainment

Paying joyful homage to a diverse mix of musicians who have inspired the singer/songwriter, I Am Singing features stirring renditions of classic yet lesser-covered songs by artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael Franks and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Rounded out by three original tracks, it’s at turns breezy and beautifully moving. The follow-up to 2007’s much-acclaimed Love…A Fable in 9 Acts serves up more of the silky Jazz-Soul fusion that’s become the trademark for this former child singing sensation and backup vocalist for the legendary Ray Charles.

Franz Ferdinand's first ever full-length DVD, which comes packed with over 50 live tracks and features, including two full live concerts, interviews, behind-the-scenes studio footage and hidden extras!
The songs are faster live. Most weren't all that slow in the first place. If Franz Ferdinand couldn't play, this might be a liability, but the Scottish quartet has got the chops. And Alex Kapranos sure can sing. (Plus, he always looks genuinely happy to be on stage.) That said, the format of this double-disc set takes a little getting used to in that it's more of a greatest hits package than a traditional concert release. Granted, two full shows are included–plus "Tour de Franz," an amusing look at the band on the road–but the first section is a patchwork of songs recorded throughout Europe and the States.

Mary Stallings sings 12 excellent and soulful interpretations of songs by such great composers as Cole Porter, Burton Lane, Louis Prima, and Duke Ellington on her second release for the Maxjazz label, Live at the Village Vanguard. Her voice is strong, rich, and full of the introspection that only comes with musical growth. Accompanied by Ron Blake on tenor saxophone, Eric Reed on piano, Vicente Archer on bass, and Carl Allen on drums, Stallings is in touch with her music and in sync with her emotions…

Mark Egan often provides subtle accompaniment, holding things together with his bass work and making other musicians look good in his role as a studio musician. The music on Truth Be Told shows off his extroverted side as he blazes through an assortment of funk/fusion tracks with some formidable sidemen along for the ride.

Strider were a UK blues/rock outfit of tremendous potential. They were formed by guitarist Gary Grainger, keyboard player and lead vocalist Ian Kewley, bassist Lee Hunter and drummer Jimmy Hawkins. They spent their early days supporting the likes of Humble Pie, Status Quo and Deep Purple. Their debut album, ''Exposed", was released on Phillips Records in 1973, and it featured Babe Ruth's Jennie Haan on backing vocals. A second album, "Misunderstood", was released in 1974, which featured a mostly new lineup including lead vocalist Rob Elliott and drummer Tony Brock. Just as it seemed as if this great band were going places, they split, with Grainger going on to feature in Rod Stewart's band and Tony Brock moving on to The Babys.

Singer/Songwriter/Country singers are a dime a dozen these days and you can find talented singers all over. What sets this album apart is that the song styles vary so greatly from song to song. There are some very country-esque songs like First Call and Where Do the Lonely Go, but Won't Be Coming Home has a nice rock feel to it. Broken Porch is probably my favorite song on the album, but Sorry is a close second and I think it would fit well on most pop/rock stations. by BenWinterman

'In The Seams' is the stunning second album from Saint Saviour - the solo project of Becky Jones, previously lead singer with The RGB's and who fronted and co-wrote the singles on Groove Armada's Grammy nominated album 'Black Light'. Collaborating on this new album with Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral), it is a marked departure from her 2012 debut 'Uncut' - stripping back and laying bare the beautiful song-craft of an artist clearly in her prime. The result is a selection of twelve delicate and heart-felt, folk-infused tracks woven into 'In The Seams' - full of lush strings, softly plucked guitars and tender vocals.

Eric Bibb is one of the highest profile international roots musicians, winning Acoustic Artist of the Year at the Blues Music Awards and having been nominated for a Grammy.
