The Beatnik Termites are a Cleveland, Ohio power pop band with a heavy surf rock influence. Their sound and vocals are similar in style to the Beach Boys and early 1960s girl groups. While often lumped under the category pop punk, what sets them apart from other bands in this genre is their more complicated melodies, vocal arrangements, and mid-tempo beats. They are seen as the progenitors of subgenre of punk dubbed oldies-core, which is characterized by sugary doo-wop/oldies-influenced harmonies coupled with aggressive buzzsaw guitars and surf punk drumbeats.

Streets is a rock band that Kansas vocalist STEVE WALSH formed in the 80s. They released two albums for Atlantic Records starting with 1983's 1st, and 1985's Crimes in Mind. The former featured the hit If Love Should Go, but both albums didn't do very well in the sales market, and Atlantic dropped them in 1985. Wounded Bird Records reissued both the band's albums on CD in 2002. "1st" is the debut album by American rock band Streets, released in 1983 (see 1983 in music).

There are bands in rock history that came oh-so-close to making it, who just never broke through for one reason or another. Chicago power pop champions Enuff Z'Nuff was one such band, but in their case, you can easily point out their fatal flaw. When they first burst on the scene during the late '80s, the group had little in common musically with the then-thriving glam metal movement, as their prime influences were the Beatles and fellow Chicagoans Cheap Trick. But, as evidenced by their first few videos – "New Thing" and "Fly High Michelle" – the quartet made the mistake of getting so dolled up that they made even Pretty Boy Floyd blush…

Kill That Girl are three guys and one girl are from Viareggio, Italia. They are playing "the same three chords" since 2006. Being big fans of Manges, Kill That Girl, one of many bands in an obscure position even in this anonymous punk community we call "the underground," are unfortunately an unknown identity in this mostly un-rocking musical era along with many other great bands just trying to make it.

The 3 amigos from Wien/Klagenfurt, Austria take you on another trip in their van, where they play Ramones and gear up for tonight's punkrock party in some dive bar. Matt's raspy vocals and buzzsaw guitar, Mike's beach boyee backings and hard-hitting drums and whoever plays bass these days. They even have a keyboard! Another European classic for you.

For scientists, the Moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth is like with a diameter of 3476 km and an apparent magnitude of -12.74. For Leidenschaftler he is a poetic companion at night, which directs the feelings and tide with his regular waxing and waning. "The Moon On My Doorstep", the new, now sixth album of singer-songwriter Ulita Knaus, this dream-moon brings us closer than ever. It's their personal work, enormously generous and of immense size. With their intimate jazz songs brings us Ulita Knaus not only the stars from the sky, but like the whole moon. Here, the "new hope of Jazz" (FAZ) is more international than ever…

Tianna Hall's 3rd album release, her debut for label Blue Bamboo Music, is her most versatile yet. She opens the album with "My Blue Heaven" & "I Wanna Be Around" swinging the paint off the walls with collaborators Mike Wheeler & Mike Nase on guitars. Third on the collection is the title track, "Never Let Me Go", a lush arrangement by producer/guitarist Mike Wheeler that showcases Tianna's vocal depth and features cellist Lisa Vosdoganes. Another highlight, Jobim's "Samba Do Avaio" might lead you to think that you are listening to another vocalist altogether…

Jazz and contemporary improvised music have had numerous iconoclasts, who questioned and reshaped forms that they inherited, and, as an aural tradition, the music develops as these boundary pushers collaborate and share their knowledge, so the future generations of musicians can push ahead. Pianist/composer John Escreet knew that he wanted to perform with just such a musician - the legendary saxophonist Evan Parker - for a long while. He was finally able to find the opportunity to partner Parker with his astounding Trio, featuring bassist John Hébert and drummer Tyshawn Sorey, on the remarkable Sounds, Space and Structures.

First of all, this is a 'selected' (by EMI) compilation of remixes of CV tracks from their period with the label from 1987 to 1990. It starts off brightly with 'Don't Argue' apart from the female backing singers! The Francois Kevorkian remix of 'Thank You America' is a highpoint, the track sounding polished and smooth. However there are lowpoints, the woeful remixes of 'Here to Go' and 'Keep On'. But matters improve with the CV remix of 'Magic' and particularly the wonderful CV remix of 'Rescue Me (City Lights)', both of which were originally written by CV and Marshall Jefferson, which sprawls outwards from its funky/hip-hop intro to a beautiful melodic dance track.
