Mother Earth was an American blues rock band formed by vocalist Tracy Nelson after she moved to San Francisco from Madison, Wisconsin. The band were signed by Mercury Records following performances at the famed Fillmore West and an appearance on the soundtrack to the 1968 movie Revolution. The group recorded four albums with Mercury plus another two with other labels before Nelson pursued a solo career. This powerhouse ballad is a track from their debut release Living with the Animals.

The band writers have created majestic themes for this unreservedly symphonic rock album, with touches of Celtic and ambient atmosphere to reflect the ancient-world subject matter. The orchestrations are complex and full of depth, whilst the rhythm patterns are richly textured, drawing from Middle Eastern, African and Celtic cultures. Even so, as you will discover, the tunes are simple, melodic and memorable.

The New Orleans based Russell Welch Hot Quartet plays an exciting, fresh version of swing-era jazz in the style of the great gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt.
