Two years after the death of founding guitarist Mark Reale, a few members have put together a version of Riot that is a cross between a continuation and a tribute band: Riot V. Their first CD, Unleash the Fire, shows not only that his band's output will survive his passing, but that they can even produce an album close to the quality of their 1988 classic, Thundersteel. The melodies and riffs of this one do more than just continue Riot's excellent track record; they bring back the lingering magic of this band's sound that reached full flower in the 80s.

One of the most talented bands of the '70s, Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan is the groups' fourth release in close to three years. Although this effort doesn't have the epiphanies of 1974's Rufusized, Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan has them becoming more established as one of the best bands in R&B and pop. The first track, Gavin Christopher's "Fool's Paradise" displays Khan's skill at screaming notes and making complex ideas sound simple, and vice versa.

Rufus is the eponymous debut album by American R&B and funk band Rufus, released on the ABC Records label in 1973 fronted by singers Chaka Khan and Ron Stockert. The album is notable for an upbeat rock/soul sound that would be replaced by a more heavy direction into funk and jazzy-styled recordings.

Eva Schubert is a singer and songwriter based in Vancouver, Canada. Inspired by jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone, blues icons like Etta James, and — perhaps improbably — Leonard Cohen, she writes in a diverse range of styles. “Songs for a Ladies’ Man” is her first album, full of songs with a classic jazz appeal.

Ella Swings Lightly was recorded in 1958 and features the Marty Paich Dektette. The songs whilst including a number of very well known standards eg " Little White Lies"; "As Long as I Live"; "Blues in the Night" etc also has less main stream standards and many of these bring to the listener Ella's ability to "scat", vocal improvisation which gives singers the ability to sing improvised melodies and rhythms, to create the equivalent of an instrumental solo using their voice…

JEAN-PASCAL BOFFO is a French artist who has been involved in several bands ranging from progressive rock to classic jazz, and recorded a series of solo albums in between his collaborations with various bands and artists.His first stint as a band member was with the progressive rock band MANDRAGORE, which he joined in 1975. Later he joined progressive rock outfit TROLL, and in 1986 Boffo released his first solo album. "Juex De Nains" was issued by French label Musea Records. It was an acoustic album, the only one of his solo releases to date exploring this style and sound.

EKSEPTION is a Dutch band that was famous during the late sixties/early seventies for the way it combined themes from classical composers with contemporary rock and jazz in a blend of dominating, virtuoso keys and trumpet plus sax(es). The story of EKSEPTION as we know it begins when they won the first prize at the Loosdrecht Jazz Festival in 1968, and they were rewarded with a record contract with Philips. At the suggestion of Rick van der LINDEN, the band's keyboard player, they decided to record rock versions of Beethoven's "Fifth" and Khachaturian's "Sabre Dance". Although initially the single with "The Fifth" did not catch on, three months after it was released suddenly it began to sell like hotcakes, and the basis for the now famous EKSEPTION formula was established: a cocktail of classical music with (symphonic) rock and jazz. Following the success of the single, their first album was recorded, which contained a mix of covers, classical themes in a rock/jazz setting, and one song written by the band.
