The album is "Going Down To The River" by Doug Seegers (Douglas Seegers), who is an American country music artist, guitarist and songwriter. The best thing about this album is of course that the truly talented Doug Seegers, the homeless man from Jill's porch, got a second chance in life. The man who became known to the Swedish people when he appeared in the TV show Jill's porch on March 5, 2014. Seegers, who at the time was homeless, sitting on a bench in Nashville when the Swedish production team from Eyeworks ran into him. Doug performed his song Going Down To The River as Jill Johnson and Magnus Carlson liked the tune so much that they wanted to record the song in Johnny Cash's old studio and build the final section around Doug, his song and background.

Arti e Mestieri is one of the most famous and highly regarded bands from Italy. Although they are not officially recognized as a Rock Progressivo Italiano (RPI) band, their music has a lot to offer to fans of the Rock Progressivo Italiano scene. Their style is a blend of RPI and Jazz/ Fusion. To my ears, that is a very nice blend. This live album is full of this blend. The band debuted in the early 1970s and their debut album Tilt is widely regarded as a classic album. It is therefore quite fitting that this album starts with one of the songs from this album; Gravita. The tone has been set for seventy five minutes of some truly great music.

From standards by the great Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, and Johnny Mercer to originals by Walker, Nina D'Alessandro, Kenny Barron, Shedrick Mitchell, and Andrew "Tex" Allen, the music selected for this CD provides an excellent vehicle for Walker's vocal prowess. She attracts your attention immediately with her impeccable phrasing and resonance that is reminiscent of a young Sarah Vaughan on "I'm Old Fashioned."

He was perhaps the greatest baritone saxophonist of all time and certainly a super talented composer and arranger of hundreds (or thousands?) of tunes in a long career spanning over 50 years. On "Spring Is Sprung" and "Theme For Jobim", Gerry really shines on piano. Don't get the idea that you'll be overwhelmed with dixieland jazz here - far from it. "Bernie's Tune" certainly has some dixie flavor as does "Blue At The Roots". "Demanton" is quite dixieland-style in fact. But this album is mostly some very choice west coast cool jazz.

If you thought the viola da gamba and lute weren’t to your taste, you can’t have heard this disc. From the opening track, you are treated to a succession of strongly characterised, superbly executed performances by Vittorio Ghielmi and Luca Pianca. (Can there only be two of them playing on this disc?) No mincing or simpering here, not even in Marais’s ‘Minaudière’: this is passionate, virile playing.

Given the Beatles' fondness for covering Motown favorites like "Please Mr. Postman," "Money (That's What I Want)" and "You Really Got a Hold on Me," it was only logical that Motown stars like the Supremes, the Four Tops and Stevie Wonder would also cover the Fab Four as well, albeit to varying degrees of success. It's telling that none of the17 tracks collected on Motown Milestones: Motown Meets the Beatles were major hits, as most seem like filler in comparison to the individual acts' best-known performances of the day; only Stevie Wonder's driving "We Can Work It Out" and Marvin Gaye's gossamer reading

While Game of Thrones is normally a pretty intense show, without spoiling anything, its third season was easily its most gut-wrenching outing. Serving as the backdrop to all the intrigue, mayhem, betrayal, and battle is Game of Thrones: Music from the HBO Series, Season 3. Composed by Ramin Djawadi, who also scored the first two season of the fantasy series, the show's soundtrack will transport fans of the show to some of the most shocking and surprising events with a musical tour, allowing fans to escape to Westeros and beyond by just putting on a pair of headphones.

I got this rip on CD from a neighbor, I don't know how it was produced, and I don't have Flac files or scans. This is a neglected milestone in German rock history. The band called this effort Polit-Rock-Kabarett and it's rather a stage show with rock music. If you think of Bert Brecht's 3 Penny Opera you get the idea, although this show didn't have a similar impact at all.

Thirteen tracks that epitomize Ralf Uhrlandt’s very own sound and cover a wide range from several trippin’ slow jams and downbeat tunes, swinging midtempo grooves and minimal techhouse business. An album that takes the genre defying Index ID style even further in a collision of many different ingredients. Even some string laden soundscapes and afro-tronic influences come in, engulfing some tracks more or less dreamily. Then again you have this overall dubby and atmospheric feel giving this album an added dimension while making way for some delicious funktified rhythms. ‚Expedition’ is a sensational release of exceptional quality that both soothes your ears and still keeps that feet firmly on the dancefloor.

This is the last installment of the Pacifica Quartet’s Shostakovich cycle named “The Soviet Experience” because it adds one quartet by other Russian composers (Miaskovsky, Prokofiev, Weinberg, and Schnittke) to each release. Although there are many performances of the complete Shostakovich quartets available, the Pacifica Quartet’s traversal of these masterpieces is one of the best. Their sheer brilliance of execution, the emotional depth of their interpretation and the stunning sound make this a most desirable set……
