This 22-cut double-disc set finally gets at it. Issuing a single disc of Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler would be a silly thing at best and a hopelessly frustrating one at worst. When the band burst on the scene with "Sultans of Swing," there was a lot happening in rock music, but most of it was under the radar and remains forgotten except in the historic annals of music fanatics. Knopfler and his band were full of rock & roll romance and proved it through their first four recordings time and again.

The Dixieland Delight 2 CD release features concert performances from May 31, 1975 and June 1, 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama. Fritz Reiner was one of the foremost conductors of his time. Crowning his long career in Europe and America was the decade from 1954 to 1963 as music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra an illustrious partnership that ranks along such other historical tenures as Karajan's in Berlin, Szell's in Cleveland and Bernstein's in New York.
Luckily for posterity, Reiner's legendary interpretations at the helm of the Chicago Symphony which no less than Igor Stravinsky called "the most precise and flexible orchestra in the world" were captured on record by RCA Victor. Now for the first time ever, they are being issued together in a single Sony Classical box set of 63 re-mastered CDs.

Although he is best known for scoring hits like "Lightning Strikes" and "Rhapsody in the Rain" during the mid-1960s, Lou Christie continued to record long after that time and a valuable chunk of his recording legacy is captured on Glory River: The Buddah Years 1968-1972. Only a handful of the songs contained in this compilation achieved chart success (the most notable hit being "I'm Gonna Make You Mine"), but the other songs are much more than just failed pop-chart fodder. Christie wrote much of his own material, so the songs presented here have a much more personal touch and tend to be more adventurous than a lot of pop music being produced around this time.
