Without nostalgia; Boogie, rock and roll and blues take place in the present. But a stage anniversary should be celebrated - and with this album I think my 30th anniversary on stage for eternity: sound recordings from four different live and studio sessions; a total of 14 pieces - and as a bonus three additional, jazzy solo piano boogies.

Don Covay – a singer who started out as a fairly straightforward soul performer, then got a bit bluesier in the early 70s, then shifted back to a more pop-oriented groove. This one's got Don working with arrangements by Bobby Martin and Dexter Wansel that still keep the bluesy quality in his voice, but go for sort of a Philly modern mode in the arrangements, in the mode that was used on Bobby Rush's one album for Philly.

"After hearing I Musici perform, Arturo Toscanini remarked, "Twelve individual instrumental masters, and together the finest chamber orchestra in the world." This Italian ensemble has long attracted international attention for their emphasis on brilliance, strength of attack, and high level of discipline, beginning with their first performances of seventeenth and eighteenth century Italian music. (…) I Musici over the years has constantly built upon its strengths, and the group members to apply the same dedication to their artistry as they did upon formation. Their performances can be heard on over 45 recordings, almost all under the Philips label."

"…Despite their innovations, solid technical ability and raves from the critics, D.A.F. were certainly never ready for prime time. When other artists in the club genre were dancing around the issue of alternative sexuality, D.A.F. was fairly "out" about it – their album covers were blatantly homoerotic and lyrics often dealt with sadomasochism. While D.A.F.'s big, industrial-inspired dance sound certainly had some measure of commercial potential, the group didn't, and they were way ahead of their time – too far ahead. Gold und Liebe followed, much in the vein of Alles Ist Gut, though offering some further refinements in terms of sound and style. Some critics argue that Gold und Liebe represents D.A.F.'s "personal best," though Alles Ist Gut is such a defining statement in retrospect it would seem hard to top. With 1982s Gold und Liebe, D.A.F. decided to disband amicably, as the sequencer they used proved too limited to sustain them artistically beyond what they had already done."

It's not hyperbole to say that Astor Piazzolla is the single most important figure in the history of tango, a towering giant whose shadow looms large over everything that preceded and followed him. Piazzolla's place in Argentina's greatest cultural export is roughly equivalent to that of Duke Ellington in jazz — the genius composer who took an earthy, sensual, even disreputable folk music and elevated it into a sophisticated form of high art.

In case you wondered why I created this album “Serenade for the dead II”, here is why. I’ve always had a big passion for writing instrumental and more soundtrack like music. I am also a movie fan and it’s always fascinated me just how much a good soundtrack can do for a movie or anything visual for that matter. In fact, before Leather Strip was “formed” I only wrote instrumental music for 2 years. The first “Serenade for the dead” was released in 1994, and at first people were angry that it wasn’t a “Solitary confinement” and it was too different than my “usual” Leather Strip material.

With a new label, a new album, Last Safe Place, and a new sense of confidence and vitality, LeRoux is certain to surpass the considerable achievements of their first three albums. Last Safe Place is the sum total of six talents. Like the rich Creole gravy base—roux — from which the band took its name, many musical flavors such as Southern Boogie, Rock, R&B, and Pop are readily identifiable on Last Safe Place.

The tempo, as well as the drum patterns of each track can vary. Sometimes the beat can be restrained and/or simple. Sometimes the beats are more complicated and more featured instead of being in the background, but even then they are usually less intense than other kinds of electronic music like trance and house. The tempo is often slower than that of traditional electronic dance music. Lounge album from the label sunset-lounge.tv consists of 42 tracks.
