One of the finest guitarists to emerge after the death of Charlie Christian, Barney Kessel was a reliable bop soloist throughout his career. He played with a big band fronted by Chico Marx (1943), was fortunate enough to appear in the classic jazz short Jammin' the Blues (1944), and then worked with the big bands of Charlie Barnet (1944-1945) and Artie Shaw (1945); he also recorded with Shaw's Gramercy Five. Kessel became a busy studio musician in Los Angeles, but was always in demand for jazz records. He toured with the Oscar Peterson Trio for one year (1952-1953) and then, starting in 1953, led an impressive series of records for Contemporary that lasted until 1961 (including several with Ray Brown and Shelly Manne in a trio accurately called the Poll Winners)…

In Brussels albumby Django Reinhardt was released Sep 22, 1992 on the Verve label. Recorded in Brussels on April 16 and May 8, 1942. CD music Contains material recorded for the Rythme record label. A '92 anthology that covers territory better presented on other labels. This Verve release provides decent overview with both "hot" and more bop-oriented songs. It's a good introductory/sampler set.

Practically a one-man band, Elegant Simplicity is headed by composer, arranger, programmer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Steve McCabe. Their material is highly keyboard- and guitar-oriented melodic prog that will alternately remind you of Camel, Genesis, The Alan Parsons Project, Barclay James Harvest, Mike Oldfield. Between 1992 and 1995, McCabe released 7 instrumental cassettes and then hired vocalist Ken Senior (from neo-prog band Evolution), along with a few guest musicians who appeared on subsequent albums. Since 1996, the 'band' has released practically one album a year.

Göran Bror Benny Andersson (born 16 December 1946), known professionally as Benny Andersson, is a Swedish musician, composer, former member of the Swedish musical group ABBA (1972–1982), and co-composer of the musicals Chess, Kristina från Duvemåla, and Mamma Mia!. As of 2011 he is active with his own band Benny Anderssons Orkester (BAO!), and was executive producer for the film version of the musical Mamma Mia!.

Official Release #55. This two-CD set is the second of three albums of material Frank Zappa compiled from the 1988 tour. While Broadway the Hard Way (released in 1988) mostly presented the new songs performed during that tour, this set focuses on older songs (Make a Jazz Noise Here would contain mostly instrumental pieces). This is the best band you never heard in your life because the 12-piece group disintegrated after only four months of touring through the U.S. East Coast and Europe. These shows took place during the Jimmy Swaggart scandal, when the televangelist was caught with a prostitute.
