Theatre of Fate by the South American metal band Viper is perhaps one of the most overlooked albums in metal, if there ever was an essential album from the vaults, well then, this is it. Featuring a pre-Angra Andre Matos on vocals, and the Passarell brothers on guitar and bass, the definitive Viper lineup is rounded off by Felipe Machado on guitar and Renato Graccia on drums. The music found on Theatre of Fate can best be described as melodic speed metal with a hard edge to it not unlike that of an Iron Maiden, early Testament hybrid.Andre’s vocals are superb like always, this man is a blueprint for aspiring singers and while he hits the soaring notes on here, he doesn’t do the “squeaks” that a lot of people accuse him of so that’s good. The songs themselves are simply amazing, no filler, none whatsoever and there’s only two real complaints I have. One, the production is kinda flat but since this came out in 1991 that’s expected, and two, THIS ALBUM IS WAY TOO SHORT!Less than thirty five minutes!

On this relaxed date, guitarist Barney Kessel and bassist Red Mitchell had a musical reunion; they had played together often in the 1950s. The music includes three Kessel originals, a pair of then-current pop songs ("Alone Again Naturally" and "Killing Me Softly With His Song"), "Summertime" and "Wave." The playing is fine, but no real surprises occur, and some of the subtle interpretations are a bit sleepy.

Jim Hall and Geoffrey Keezer join forces for this exciting duo project, a limited-edition CD available exclusively through ArtistShare, ranging from intimate arrangements to joint improvisations. The two talented players, who are decades apart in age, are very much on a similar wavelength. Starting with a spacy revisit to Hall's Latin-flavored "End the Beguine" (previously recorded with Dave Holland on the CD Jim Hall & Basses, the guitarist moves on to his quirky bop vehicle "A Merry Chase," which is full of surprising lines from both musicians…

For those of you fortunate enough to witness the live collaboration of guitar extraordinaire Marc Bonilla with friends Keith Emerson and Glenn Hughes, you will know that these recordings have been rumored to have existed for a very long time. Well, it is a rumor no more as this all star line up affectionately know as the Boys Club has finally seen the light of day. Chronicling a few live California dates back in 1998, Live From California encapsulates the magical moments of these three brilliant musicians on stage.

Well first of all you should have to add another half star at least;secondly as this work represents their comeback also on stage (dated 1983) but with a different line-up (except on the original member-Mr Chirico), I think that A&M showed a diverse clever approach and a great versatility too, in the early nineties, which is very interesting. The re-printed version by Electromantic makes me feel so good, cause of its live recording without any "post-production", as well as of its pretty jazz mood, being never banal.

Recorded, apparently, at the House of Blues in Chicago in 1997 (at least, if the MC's introduction and picture of a backstage pass is anything to go by), Live is something of a time killer from the band. If nothing else, it's a nice enough document of the late-'90s version of the group on stage. Given how much Enuff Z'Nuff's recorded work relies on a balance of subtler and full-on approaches, Live understandably concentrates on the latter side – there aren't any overdubs, backward tapes, or the like here.

The swagger that distinguished the original lineup of The Allman Brothers Band is on full display here in "Don't Keep Me Wondering," but a comparable confidence permeates this entire performance captured roughly two months before the untimely death of founding member guitarist Duane Allman. Recorded August 26th 1971 at New York's A&R Studios (and broadcast live on WPLJ-FM radio), the sextet is clearly sensing the realization their hard work was beginning to come to fruition with the burgeoning success of At Fillmore East (Atlantic, 1971) released the previous month.

Swiss outfit Cosmos can trace it's roots back to 1990, when Reto Iseli (drums, vocals) formed his first band, at that time called Glacier Eagles. Late in 1993 they decided that Cosmos was a better sounding and describing name for their Pink Floyd influenced musical ventures, and the following year saw them release their debut album The Deciding Moments of Your Life. The album was met with a fairly good reception; and for the next few years Cosmos enjoyed a fair degree of success in their native country with live shows combining their own original material with Pink Floyd covers. However, in 1998 internal tensions saw to it that the band broke up…

During the legendary Forst years Roedelius had a private workspace with a Farfisa organ, a Revox-A77 tape machine, an echo device and a synthesizer which he borrowed from the Cluster studio next door now and again. Here he experimented, practised, allowed his imagination to flow, at any hour of the day or night, whenever he was not in the studio with Dieter Moebius and/or Michael Rother at work on new Cluster or Harmonia material. Roedelius always let the tape run, in order to analyze the ideas thus captured more effectively on repeated listening.
