In August 1989, four musicians, hiding under pseudonyms wicked: Captain Death (Spyros) (drums; ex-Vomit and Sound Polution), Mutilator (Jim) (bass; ex-Rotting Christ), John (guitar; ex-Danger Cross) and Necroabyssious (Stephan) (vocals; ex-Sickness Mind) - have joined forces under the banner of the dark Varathron. The result was a set of rehearsals legendary demo "Procreation of the Unaltered Evil", recorded in October 1989. The recording was terrible quality, but very blasphemous. In those days it was something special. Tape instantly attracted attention.

John Williams, classical guitar virtuoso, is known for his wide-ranging approach to repertory, which includes appearances playing electric rock guitar and international music. (…) Williams has toured throughout the world. He has performed and recorded nearly the entire standard guitar repertory, plus a large quantity of transcriptions. Several of these transcriptions are by his own hand. He was a professor of guitar at the Royal College of Music in London from 1960 to 1973. However, he also has a strong tendency to explore music outside the classical tradition. He does session work on film soundtracks, has arranged Beatles songs, and plays electric guitar in Sky, a classical-rock fusion band. He has also formed his own ensembles, John Williams and Friends and Attacca, to explore other music.

One of guitarist Barney Kessel's final recordings before a stroke put him out of action, this is an excellent quintet session with vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Rufus Reid and drummer Ben Riley. Three of Kessel's originals (a pair of blues and a bossa nova) alternate with four standards and Laurindo Almeida's dedication to the guitarist ("Barniana") on this well-paced and consistently swinging set; the uptempo version of "By Myself" is a highpoint.

Circa is a band of veterans, formed by former Yes members Billy Sherwood, Tony Kaye and Alan White. In Circa, they team up with guitarist Jimmy Haun to go off on an adventure into the past and present of progressive rock.
