German thrash metal veterans SODOM will release a new EP, "Sacred Warpath", on November 28 in Germany, December 1 in the rest of Europe and late January 2015 in the USA via SPV/Steamhammer. Billed as a Jazz at the Philharmonic performance, this concert consists of two intimate sets: the first showcases Roy Eldridge leading an All Star sextet, while the second part of the concert is the long Ella Fitzgerald set, with just a rhythm section. Highlights include her powerful renditions of such classics as "Angel Eyes", "Lullaby of Birdland" and "Love for Sale". The final number, a vigorous version of "It Don't Mean a Thing", brings Roy Eldridge and Stuff Smith back on stage. Stuff Smith, Don Abney, Herb Ellis and Roy Eldridge perform solos.

Jim Hall has continued to explore new possibilities as a performer and composer late in his career, refusing to coast on his past successes. This live CD was recorded over a series of several nights at the Village Vanguard in the spring of 2004, with longtime collaborators Scott Colley on bass and drummer Lewis Nash (though they have never recorded as a trio). The leader contributed three originals, including the adventurous opener "Bent Blue," "Canto Neruda" (post-bop with a Mexican-like vamp by Hall) which showcases Colley to good effect, along with "Furnished Flats," a seemingly loping theme that is full of sudden twists…

Our Ruhrpott friends from Sodom are releasing a new EP with the title "Sacred warpath". The disc will be released prior to the Sodom tour with Kreator, Arch Enemy and Vader and contains 4 tracks. There is with the title track a new song on the record plus three live songs.The result is great. All the typical Sodom trademarks are present. Heavy riffings from Bernemann as well as the typical Tom Angeripper vocal. The song is kept in midpace and gets its heaviness out of the pounding rhythm section and the great guitar solo. And with almost six minutes the track became also quite long. This is thrash metal that is rough and dirty. Exactly what we expect from the band.

Jonne Järvelä is well-known for his work as the front man of Finnish folk metal band, Korpiklaani, but on his brand new, solo debut, Jonne, he demonstrates a significantly different approach to his music.Staying true to his roots, Jonne is teeming with Finnish folk music. The approach; however, is more of an organic, indigenous folk route; one wherein you won't find any of the distorted guitars or rollicking, alcohol-fueled songs typically found on a Korpiklaani record.
