50 St. Catherine's Drive is the address where Robin Gibb and his brothers grew up on the Isle of Man in the early '50s, so its selection as the title of his 2014 posthumous album is bittersweet. It is also appropriate, as this record does feel somewhat like a homecoming, with Gibb touching upon many of the sounds and styles he played and sang over the years.

The first song on Thirteen, “Garden of Eden,” is the best classic rock song to come out this year. Big hooky guitar riffs, followed by big arena style drums and soaring vocals really set the stage for the rest of the album. The solo on this song and the one following it, are almost comical. The performances are spot on, and the musicianship is high so it is impressive.

It is packed with the best top notch guitarists, Malmsteen, Kotzen, Lynch, Gillis, Zappa ,Beach and more. What makes this a great buy is if you like guitarists, they are all here. Great vocalists, percussion; and production was done with great care to preserve OZZY's song integrity.

Northern Ireland’s Putrefy have been around for some time now, in fact they’ve been in existence since way back in 1992. So it may come as a surprise to hear that “Knelt Before The Sarcophagus Of Humanity” is only their third full length release, although demos aplenty have appeared throughout their career. Brutal Death Metal is the name of the game, and Putrefy deliver admirably enough, though it’s not going to entice those who aren’t fans of this brand of heaviness.

Hailing from London, Pythia is an English symphonic power metal band that incorporates a touch of both gothic and progressive metal into their music. All these elements thrown together do make for an enjoyable sound, however it’s not as intriguing as one might think. Shadows of a Broken Past makes for Pythia’s third full-length album release, and while it may have its faults the album does make for a great listen.

A grand opera that dominated the stages of Europe for most of the 19th century, Robert le diable is a masterpiece. Director Laurent Pelly breathes new life into Giacomo Meyerbeer’s great spectacle and audaciously entertaining moral fable, in this colourful new staging for The Royal Opera. The wonderful score includes brilliant arias, dramatic ensembles, rousing choruses and a ballet of ghostly nuns, and with the wavering hero of the title sung by Bryan Hymel, acclaimed for his role as Énée in Les Troyens for The Royal Opera and the Metropolitan Opera, this is an unmissable experience.

The release of Mahler´s Symphonies Nos. 1 + 2 starts the release the complete Mahler cycle with Paavo Järvi and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra on DVD and Blu-ray. Each Symphony will have an introduction by Paavo Järvi.
