The hottest young rockin' blues guitarist in the South made his Alligator debut with this 1988 release. Like most of Tinsley Ellis' albums, Georgia Blue is filled with hot, blistering guitar, mediocre songs and flat vocals. For fans of blues guitar, there's plenty to hear on the album – the licks and solos burn with a wild, uncontrolled fury. Others might find the album a little tedious, but not without virtue. "One of the top blues guitarists in America today".

"Good to get, if you can find it. Holloway with Lonnie Smith on organ and George Benson on guitar. Tunes like "Big Fat Lady" and "Good and Groovy."". An exuberant player with attractive tones on both tenor and alto, Red Holloway was also a humorous blues singer. Whether it be bop, blues, or R&B, Holloway held his own with anyone. Holloway played in Chicago with Gene Wright's big band (1943-1946), served in the Army, and then played with Roosevelt Sykes (1948) and Nat Towles (1949-1950), before leading his own quartet (1952-1961) during an era when he also recorded with many blues and R&B acts…
Guitarist Russ Malone got his breaks backing crooners Harry Connick and Diana Krall, but with his mellow Georgia style and slow-smoked grooves, he's well on his way to a solo career. This all-ballad date is built around a sumptuous and hallowed string orchestra with more-than-capable arrangers at the helm: pianist Alan Broadbent, guitarist Dori Caymmi, and composer Johnny Mandel. With virtually every tune taken at a somnolent tempo, the date becomes more the moody sleeper than it need have been, despite Malone's occasional deft double-timing ("Wind in the Willow") and soaring ("Why Try to Change Me Now?"). A feather-light rhythm trio "features" veteran sideman Kenny Barron, whose piano barely peeks into the limelight…
Professionally filmed video footage of Marilyn Manson's June 5 performance at the Rock Am Ring festival in Mendig, Germany.
The core story of the piece is the split of political values between Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughter Christabel on the one hand, and her younger daughter Sylvia on the other. The mother and daughters were united at first by their passionate belief in the right of all women to have the vote…
Eminently charming and playful appear Kroke's new compositions, recorded with the original Trio setup. Back to the roots? Certainly, in a way. The waiver of the drums means a reinforcement of viola, accordion and bass. Coming to the fore (again), equally entitled and responsible for both melody and rhythm. OUT OF SIGHT points out familiar and surprisingly new facets of Kroke's musical universe, from Kukurba's oriental-influenced vocal improvisations ("Mecalakuku") to the frisky "Life As It Is" and the frivolous allure of "A Luftmentsch". Kroke's creative power, joining their tradions and their very own view on "Life as it is", is still going strong - and exploring.
As American as rock 'n roll itself, Little Feat's music transcends boundaries, a freewheeling fusion of California rock and Dixie-inflected funk-boogie. Also in the mix are strains of folk, blues, rockabilly, country and jazz, inventing a hybrid sound that is truly Little Feat's own…
