Materya are Italians Andrea Stagni (piano/keyboards, guitars, bass, vocals) and Betty Copeta (vocals), with the assistance of drummers Claudio Trotta (Deus ex Machina) and Marcello Bellina. (There are drums on 7 of 12 tracks.) Stagni, Copeta, and Bellina are all members of Italian prog band AltaVia. Materya is to AltaVia as Aries is to La Maschera di Cera. Betty has a gorgeous, crystalline voice, delivering lyrics in both English and Italian. Stagni also sings, and as a keyboardist sounds influenced by Tony Banks / Genesis. It’s mandatory to mention Renaissance in all cases of prog with pure female vocals, and we comply, but references to Magenta and Karnataka are also apt.

'Shaken, Not Stirred' - released on December the 18th in Japan through Dolphin Entertainment. Strongest release from these Danish rockers. From hard rocking tracks to emotional ballads. The guitar work on this cd is mighty. Martie Peters sounds a lot like Mike Tramp of WHITE LION. Overall, this is a solid release.

Ark 2 is the first and only album released by the British rock band Flaming Youth. It was a concept album released in October 1969, the album featured the theme of an evacuation from a dying Earth. The lead single from the album was "From Now On". The album and its space theme were influenced by the media's attention to the moon landing. The songs were composed by Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley who were not credited on the original record as they did not want their reputation as writers of commercial hits to jeopardise its chances.

EDDIE MONEY's first two albums certainly set the scene: panoramic melodic hard rock filled with memorable hooks supporting an instantly identifiable rasp. It was a tailor made sound that perfectly fitted the American airwaves sitting comfortably besides music from the likes of Boston, Foreigner and Journey. A reliable style that served Eddie well and it was masterfully replicated on this, his third, album.

The original trio's first album in a quarter of a century is a gem, a little more mellow than Amazing Blondel's classic early-'70s work but beautifully sung and played, and unlike a lot of other reunited bands of this era, it's just the three originals – no extra musicians to fill out the sound. The first song is in Latin, but it's so beautifully melodic that that's not a problem (yeah, like every rock & roll song has words that are understandable). The harmonies are as graceful as the old stuff, though they don't soar nearly as high, and the instrumentals are, if anything, more accessible and filled with better hooks than their older work. Easily the equal of their best '70s albums, and worth the wait.

Schwarzarbeit is an "old" German group that has been existing since the Seventies. But the group has considerably matured since the self-titled album recorded in 1979 and "Traum Oder Wirklichkeit", the second opus released three years later. The comeback album is now hosted by the Musea label: "James Gordon's Story" (1994). The tracks of this album are often instrumental and develop brilliant guitar parts close to Steve Hackett, especially when there are acoustic sequences. Full of delicacy and sensitivity, compositions alternate energy and melancholy with talent and conviction.

Long awaited release of the tracks that comprised the first Chapman / Whitney "Streetwalkers" album in 1974. Taken from the original master tapes and re-edited by Roger Chapman. The tracks appear in the original order that the band wished to appear on the record and features sleeve notes by Pete Feenstra, lyrics and rare pictures of Roger Chapman and Charlie Whitney. "Streetwalkers" were the band that Chapman & Whitney formed after the demise of Family and this CD features a veritable who's who of the early 70's rock scene.
