Label: Rhino Atlantic | Release Year: 2016

Florida-born soul singer Jackie Moore began her recording career in 1968 with singles on the Shout and Wand labels; however it was her first release for Atlantic Records in early 1970 that catapulted her to national prominence in the U.S with a song written by Jackie and her cousin Dave Crawford, who produced it that started out as the B-side to her debut single for the label. The label selected the brass-laden Willpower but a radio disc jockey flipped the record, got immediate reaction and Jackie ended up with a gold record in the form of Precious, Precious, a lilting, gentle slice of Southern soul that remains a timeless R&B classic.

On Saturday 16th August 1980 Rainbow took to the stage to headline the first rock festival to be staged at Castle Donington. It was the culmination of the band s tour in support of the hugely successful Down To Earth album, released in 1979, and would prove to be the last live show featuring this particular line-up of the band: Ritchie Blackmore (guitars), Don Airey (keyboards), Graham Bonnet (vocals), Roger Glover (bass) and Cozy Powell (drums). The set featured tracks from the new album alongside classics from earlier in their career. There are virtuoso solo spots for Blackmore, Airey and Powell which serve to highlight the sheer musical prowess in the band. The show climaxes with Ritchie Blackmore destroying his guitar and thrusting it into an amp which promptly bursts into flames before fireworks burst overhead at the conclusion of an explosive show.

The pair have been working together for over a year and 2016 sees the release of their second album Corners, with songs from the album having already received support from the likes of BBC Introducing and 6Music's Lauren Laverne and Tom Ravenscroft. Corners is hypnotic, immersive and dreamlike. Compared to the previous strident electro-pop of debut album Walls, it is now more expansive and dynamic yet at the same time shrouded by the shimmering, ethereal production.

On the US Disco chart, "It Only Takes a Minute" spent five weeks at #2 and was the first of four entries on the chart. The Meeting Legacy - The Artistic Face of Emilie Nana. The Geneva based, Lyon born, Cameroonian descendant has immersed in this creative outpouring since 2012, the album slices together an eclectic selection, sharing much of who she is. Comprising of 11 tracks, including, Like You, which was released on Compost Black at the beginning of 2013; at that stage her second release, and one of five EP’s Emilie Nana has shared with the world. I’m Childish, So What! also features, having first caught the attention of the music community in July 2015. This gem inspired by Emilie Nana’s nephew, is based on the idea, that even as we grow up, we should still be who we are at any matter of time. It is the only track on the album carrying a French vocal, and enjoys a moody, loopy, no rules feel; and is an absolute imaginative jewel. Recently three tracks featuring on this album encompassed a remix release package, namely, Tolstoy’ Changes, Music and The Meeting Legacy, remixed by Manoo, Beanfield & Thomas Herb.

The band’s first album in 24 (!) years now is simply entitled “Gypsy Rose”. This work shows influences from various eras of rock music. Some say, the band's very own style somewhere lies right in the middle between typical Swedish Melodic Rock, Fair Warning, BONFIRE, SCORPIONS and Thin Lizzy. “Gypsy Rose” was recorded at JM Studio in Mölnlycke, Sweden by Martin Kronlund. If this CD was made back in the eighties, it would be an instant hit and they would be mega stars. Songs like “Queen Of The Night” would fit perfectly with a tune by Richard Marx.

Excellent Christian melodic aor band who do in fact have 4 cd releases (+1 Japanese issue). A major line-up change after album number one saw ex The Brave vocalist James Salter join the fold for “Ordinary People”. This appeared to have a profound effect as the music stepped up a notch in every direction making this a near classic of the genre. Vocalist James Salter steals the show, with his smooth melodic voice, tender yet powerful with a great tone. The band has some great chops with a aor/fusion type sound like Steve perry’s band. For fans of Toto, Journey, Tyketto, Shy, The Brave, and Europe. A top class release that most people will never hear!!!

Nelson is a melodic rock duo by Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, twin sons of late pop star Rick Nelson. Their debut album "After The Rain" became a superhit and made lots of hits. This is their fourth album released in 1997. If you liked their "Because They Can (1995)" album, you'll love this one too. Just don't expect the bombastic debut…

Look no further than Aussie quintet Cold Chisel's second album, 1979's Breakfast at Sweethearts, along with the band's eponymous debut disc of the previous year, for the material that took them from little-knowns to mighty pub rock monsters and beyond. In fact, the songs on this album may comprise the best set of any of the band's non-compilation studio discs. But alas, it is a masterpiece tainted by a poor recording job.

A slight change of direction and feel for Steve with ‘Peripheral Vision’, one with an Alien presence! It’s most definitely NOT a dark atmospheric X-files style outing, but more of an interesting, melodic sonic journey building on the artists usual melodic style, but this time round, with a more rhythmic and synth based ‘alien’ twist.
There are a lot more synths and rhythms on offer here than is usual for Steve, very little guitar, and some nice keys and symphonic passages. It’s all done with the usual melodic ‘Steve Orchard’ flair and panache and fans are sure to enjoy it.

Brighton, U.K. five-piece ARCHITECTS UK will release its new album, "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us", on May 27 via Epitaph. Recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden, the CD is the heaviest and darkest work to which frontman Sam Carter, bassist Ali Dean, guitarists Adam Christianson and Tom Searle, and the latter's twin brother drummer, Dan Searle have ever put their name to, both on and below its surface. It is an album that challenges and progresses a genre long thought to have stagnated, and embraces its inspirations at a time when many rock and metal bands seek to hide them in search of mainstream acceptance. It is also born from considered minds filled not by thoughts of being the biggest band in the world, but of making a difference.
