Bernstein recorded Gershwin's "American in Paris" and "Rhapsody in Blue" in the late '50s with the same NY Philharmonic playing here. That LP (later transferred to CD) was superlative in every way. In this DVD, he conducts both works in the Royal Albert Hall in London, with the same orchestra as the LP. The results are the same.

Pianist Jaki Byard and the wondrous Roland Kirk (here switching between tenor, clarinet, and manzello) were two of the few jazz musicians who could play in literally every jazz style, from New Orleans to bop and free form. If only they had recorded a history-of-jazz album. Fortunately, they did meet up on a few occasions, including this brilliant quartet session with bassist Richard Davis and drummer Alan Dawson. They romp on Bud Powell's "Parisian Thoroughfare," Thelonious Monk's "Evidence," "Shine on Me," and "Teach Me Tonight." ~ AllMusic

The arrival in London in the 1960s of the South African Blue Notes brought new sounds and a new attitude that had an incalculable influence. This historic five-CD set starts with the band live in South Africa in 1964, shortly before apartheid drove it out of the country. None of the members has survived except drummer Louis Moholo, and two of the sessions (from 1975 and 1986) commemorated the departures of trumpeter Mongezi Feza and bassist Johnny Dyani. The 1964 gig, a long way from hi-fi but as raucously atmospheric as sitting in a club, finds them in their early, rough-edged hard-bop and Monkish mode ~ Guardian

Never Can Say Goodbye is a 1975 album by Gloria Gaynor, released on MGM Records in January 1975. It is most notable for including several early Disco recordings. The album charted in the US Billboard at #25 in the US Pop chart, and at #21 in the US R&B chart. In the UK the album peaked at #32, "Never Can Say Goodbye" was released in the UK as a single and reached #2 in early 1975.

I've Got You was a 1976 album by vocalist Gloria Gaynor. It was her first on Polydor Records, which absorbed her previous label MGM Records, and soon became a force in the disco genre. The album charted in the US Billboard at #107 in the US Pop chart, and at #40 in the US R&B chart.
