Canned Funk is a jazz album by Joe Farrell for CTI Records. It was recorded at Van Gelder Studios November and December 1974. The album was released in 1975.

Batagraf is a percussion think tank, a constellation of players researching the outer parameters of rhythmic music. Inspired by techniques and traditions from West African Wolof music, the group explores new polyphonic textures. The relation between language and rhythm is constantly being investigated in Batagraf, the collective centered around the collaboration between Helge Norbakken and Jon Balke. Norbakken has developed his personal approach to percussion, inspired by African drum music traditions, but also developed in new directions through collaborations with numerous artists.

Blake Shelton is the perfect contemporary country artist. His rich baritone voice allows him to bounce between traditional-sounding honky tonk material, big romantic power ballads, and pure country corn with relative ease, and his singles are usually a welcome thing when they come on the radio. What he isn't, however, is an album-oriented artist, and that's clear on Startin' Fires, his fifth studio release……

Here's some real good rootsy Louisiana swamp blues…sort of a cross between John Fogerty, Clifton Chenier & Stevie Ray Vaughn. He sings with a southern drawl and he's a talented guitarist. Roy Roberts blues style is smooth and funky, much like Johnny Rawls. This CD is has its fair share of straight ahead blues shuffles ("The Next Time", "Dirty Old Man", "That's Alright") but the real highlight is the more soulful material like "Burnin' Love", "Couldn't See the Tears For the Rain", and the funky-blues "Leave My Woman Alone". Roberts is no Latimore or Wilson Pickett on vocals, but his covers of "Let's Straighten It Out" and "I'm In Love" are quite enjoyable. Overall, a solid disc by a solid soul/blues man.–By Sam Mosley

The complete long unavailable album Jazz A Confronto, recorded by the Johnny Griffin Quartet for the legendary Horo label in Rome during 1974. As a bonus, “The Pasta Parade”, a tune based on Gershwin’s “Strike Up the Band”, which completes the original session. It had only originally appeared on a compilation LP.
