One of the most hard-burning Johnny Griffin records of the 70s – a cooking live se recorded in Tokyo, with energy that's much more freewheeling and open than his studio records of the time! Joined by pianist Horace Parland, bassist Mads Vinding and drummer Art Taylor for this Tokyo concert, Griffin digs into three standards and a pair of his originals; all except for a rapid "Wee" are at least 16 minutes long. Griffin's long cadenza on "The Man I Love" is a highlight.
Undisputed masters of the crossover genre, Richmond, Virginia's Municipal Waste return with their fifth full-length album in their endless quest to bring the fury, bring the laughs and bring the party to obscene new lows. Tasked with the noble aim of spreading the shred, 'The Fatal Feast' is the most complete album the band have recorded. More bang, more intensity and a rounder sound make this not only the perfect party record, but also a natural fit for their epically ridiculous live shows. This digipak edition adds bonus track "Eviction Party"!

Rocio Jurado (1946-2006) was undoubtedly the figure and most acclaimed female vocalist award in Spain and Latin America in the second half of last century. It is now a compilation of selected analog source recordings published in Spain in 1986. They offer 8 tracks, recorded between 1981 and 1983 - creation of the distinguished authors of lyrics of songs, Antonio Quintero and Rafael de León, and Manuel Lopez-Quiroga, pianist and composer.
It's been six years since these same performers got together to create one of the decade's more unusual experiments in musical alchemy. Beginning with the raw materials of early music and modern jazz, the four male voices of the Hilliard Ensemble joined with jazz saxophonist Jan Garbarek to see what would happen when the proper measure of old music and new style were combined, shaped by the performers' considerable experience and collective aesthetic vision.
When a Heavy Music fan sees the Biohazard logo at a doctor's office or medical laboratory, the first thing that comes to mind is Brooklyn based Hardcore legends BIOHAZARD. Established in 1987 in Brooklyn, when Hardcore music was at a pivotal point. The Brooklyn based band took Hardcore music to another level, and added a new flavor to the ever changing genre. Not only did every song have attitude and power, but it also had that urban feel that makes New York Hardcore such a unique musical style. Biohazard was one of the first bands to perfectly blend Hardcore Punk, Heavy Metal and Hip Hop.
Brooklyn, NY's crossover legends Life of Agony formed in 1989. They perfected their angst-filled hardcore/heavy metal hybrid along the way, obtaining a devoted audience in the process. Their first studio album, River Runs Red, was similar to their stage show at the time – straight-up energy and aggression in a hardcore/thrash format, with shards of heavy metal cutting through at times, and the group toured extensively upon its release. Once the tour was completed, LOA went directly back into the studio to work on their next album, 1995's Ugly, which signaled a complete overhauling of the band's signature heavy-duty sound. The album resembled the sounds of the alternative stars of the day, especially Stone Temple Pilots, and it wasn't greeted favorably by the record-buying public. LOA were still able to retain their audience, and the resulting tour was a success, as they opened for the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Korn, Type O Negative, and Anthrax…
Acoustic Alchemy has captured the hearts and minds of contemporary jazz aficionados with their ever-changing rhythms, beautiful melodies and state-of-the-art production. "Best Kept Secret," originall filmed in 1998, captures the excitement of a live studio performance and features the full line-up with the London Metropolitan Orchestra. Distinguished film producer Aubrey Powell also captures the band in conversation about their music and influences and follows them "documentary style" on a tour of the United States. Also includes 2 music videos.
In September of 1979, John Hammond went into Vanguard Records' 23rd Street Studio in New York with the Nighthawks – Jimmy Thackeray, guitar; Mark Wenner, harmonica; Jan Zukowski, bass; Pete Ragusa, drums – and cut this record, one of his best (and which might've sold better with maybe some better cover art)…..
