After the success of Bloody Tourists, and the artsy excess of Look Hear?, Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman gave the rest of the band their walking papers, and recorded this album as a duo. Sounding fresh and energized, this was by far 10cc's best album since 1977's Deceptive Bends. Maintaining a mild case of the quirkiness of old, Stewart and Gouldman embrace some of their finest melodies on this release, allowing the songs to speak for themselves. This record is one of a string of mid-career recordings by Chicago natives Enuff Z'Nuff. Paraphernalia is arguably heavier in nature than many of their previous recordings. This album is also notable for its guest appearances from other famous Chicago area musicians, including Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, James Young of Styx, and Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, all featured on lead guitar for several of the album's tracks.

The show brings great icons of blues - Junior Wells, Hubert Sumlin, Buddy Guy - together with younger artists - Pistol Pete, Roy Hytower, Rod Piazza - to showcase generations of great players of this hard driving American tradition.
The great Junior Wells' harmonica playing defines the Chicago sound: he worked with Muddy Waters in the 50s and with Buddy Guy in the 60s. Hubert Sumlin brought the Mississippi sound to Chicago and contributed to the dark sound of Howlin Wolf. Buddy Guy blew hippies away in the late 60s with his guitar theatrics.

Christian Gaubert early began to be eclectic as he launched his first trio and a Jazz Big Band in Marseille (city of South of France) by using his skills as a songwriter, conductor and arranger to compose for the great names of French chanson (Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Bécaud, Mort Chuman, Croisille…) and also writing for the film industry (over 140 scores!). As a pianist, Christian Gaubert has also collaborated with the drummer André Céccarelli and the bass guitar player Jannick Top ; he has always kept an eye on their creations and has composed special themes for this imaginary trio…

At the time of their 1990 debut, the kind of rock & roll the Black Crowes specialized in was sorely out of style. Only Guns N' Roses came close to approximating a vintage Stones-style raunch, but they were too angry and jagged to pull it off completely. The Black Crowes, on the other hand, replicated that Stonesy swagger and Faces boogie perfectly. Vocalist Chris Robinson appropriated the sound and style of vintage Rod Stewart, while brother Rich Robinson fused Keith Richards' lean guitar attack with Ron Wood's messy rhythmic sense.
