From the area around Memphis comes the black and blind musicians Morris Cummings, who here - accompanied by a loud and gruff therefore coming white band - his debut submit. The whole thing sounds a bit strange, since both his singing style and his Harptechnik are quite rudimentary. Not bad / debut from the blind singer and harp player with did rough voice and simple, powerful harmonica style. He's backed by a pretty good, loud and rough playin 'ribbon.

One of the more electronic projects we've heard from trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso – a set of work done with electronic musician Marco Moreggia, who creates a very different sound for Fabrizio's horn! The music is a blend of sound sources, keyboards, and other elements – sometimes augmented by warmer touches on guest strings and jazz instrumentation, but often laid out just by Marco as a soundscape for Bosso's well-crafted trumpet lines – with some abstracted vocals drifting through the music as well.

On "Everything's Beautiful Now" Christine returns as a songwriter of depth and sensitivity. After experiencing the loss of over a dozen close friends and family members in the last few years, this collection of surprisingly hopeful and inspiring songs was born. "Everything's Beautiful Now" were some of the last words spoken to Christine by her mother-in-law in her final hours and the song is written in her voice. "My Heart's Prayer" - penned by South Dakota's Tom Peterson - is a message to those who have passed…"will you still know my face in that faraway place; will we meet over on the other shore." A simple and intimate arrangement of Warren Zevon's "Keep Me in Your Heart" is equally poignant as Zevon's message to his loved ones when he was close to the end.

Roger Williams was certainly the most popular pianist in America during the 20th century with Billboard magazine still ranking him as the best selling piano artist in history. Four complete albums: 'With These Hands', 'Always', 'Songs Of The Fabulous Fifties' (which includes the No. 1 hit "Autumn Leaves") and 'Temptation'. Plus three bonus tracks from 'Songs Of The Soaring 60s'. Despite his huge popularity in the USA, most of his 100 plus albums have never been on CD so this is a release that is not to be missed! Fully detailed liner notes cover his entire career.

Here is the 2013 release by newcomer Emma. No, this is NOT Emma that also has some releases under that singular name. That is "Baby Spice" from The Spice Girls, this is entirely a different vocalist, and you can even say that this person "is" a vocalist. Unfortunately because it was issued on a small label based mainly through online sales and because she really had no media promotion and wide-spread exposure to the general public, the album 'Forward' virtually sank without a trace. The fate of Emma is still up in the air at this point, but this album of her wonderful vocals doing an exemplary program of Jazz Vocal standards along with a couple of originals should remain timeless.

None of the Falstaff recordings that have come along subsequently – 15 are listed on the current Gramophone Database, not including videos – has come close to what Karajan and his hand-picked cast achieved in Kingsway Hall, London, in June 1956. It will surely prove difficult to surpass its particular combination of virtues. - Gramophone

There is a difference between music that coarsely entertains and merely propels a listener versus music that matters on a much deeper level, that truly has the timeless weight of truth, beauty and soul. I want to make music like that. Anything else at this point is inexcusable.

Philm release their second album ‘Fire From The Evening Sun’ with the Godfather of double bass and Slayer legend; Dave Lombardo since the release of ‘Harmonic’ in 2012. Fire From The Evening Sun is an eerie must-listen for a different slant on your usual metal genre. Imagine a unique ‘Quentin Tarantino’ movie, a romantic yet violent adventure which is somewhat addictive. Not an album for everyone’s taste but don’t knock it – just try it!

Alanis Morissette has often written about affairs of the heart, but she's rarely written from the perspective of being in love, and she's certainly never recorded an album where she seems so in love and at peace as she has with her fourth album, So-Called Chaos.

Born from the richness of Rachael Dadd`s semi-nomadic lifestyle, partly recorded live in a studio followed by playful overdubbing in Rachael’s front room, ‘We Resonate’ carves out a niche of its own, crossing genres from folk, through pop and experimental. Pulsing with poly-rhythms on prepared-piano, homemade xylophone, voice, clarinets, typewriter, boxes of matches, steel drum, tap-dancing, clapping, and even the heartbeat of Rachael’s baby in the womb, it reveals that her love of African field-recordings and the spirit embodied within them has seeped into the diverse mix of influences, along with Steve Reich, Tune Yards, and the Japanese underground/ improv scene.
