It's been years since Anita Baker fans got any new material from their diva, but it's coming. 2004 found Baker signing a contract with Blue Note and recording a new album. So if Baker-mania is going to break out amongst the cosmopolitan again, her old home Warner Brothers must feel they've just got to have new Baker product on the shelves. Here Warner Brothers hands the singer over to their reissue imprint, Rhino.

One unknown place led to the realization of Across the Crystal Sea, an orchestral recording with Perez and a stellar quartet (bassist Christian McBride, drummer Lewis Nash, percussionist Luis Quintero and vocal stylist Cassandra Wilson on two tracks) performing with none other than arranger/conductor Claus Ogerman, whose work is synonymous with excellence. One who possesses an affinity with jazz as heard in his collaborations with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Bill Evans, Diana Krall, Michael Brecker and others.

The group formed in 1972 by Colosseum drummer JON HISEMAN. Upon the demise of Hiseman's previous group he formed the muscular outfit Tempest with Colosseum bassist MARK CLARKE, guitarist ALLAN HOLDSWORTH and Vocalist and Keyboard player PAUL WILLIAMS.The band's debut album, originally released by Bronze Records in 1973, was a fine work and featured exemplary musicianship from the quartet. By the time of the recording of Tempest's second album both Holdsworth and Williams had departed. In their place came talented guitarist and keyboard player OLLIE HALSALL. This was the 2nd and final album by TEMPEST. The album is an impressive heavy rock.

Dora Juarez is a brilliant young vocalist whose first CD on Tzadik with the trio Muna Zul was released to great acclaim in 2003. Here she steps out on her own to create a fascinating musical journey exploring her own Jewish identity. Tracing her lineage from her parent’s roots in Eastern Europe and Spain, on to Argentina, Israel (where Dora was born) and finally to Mexico where she was raised and still lives, this is an intensely personal and passionate Jewish story told through traditional Sephardic songs in Ladino and Yiddish.
