Daniel Grau has recorded eight legendary LPs between 1974 and 1983; all of them never available outside of Venezuela though. Born 1948 in Caracas the thoroughbred musician first and foremost was one of the most sought-after studio engineers in his country. Almost any respectable artist in Venezuela (Vytas Brenner, Aldemaro Romero, Aditus, La Misma Gente etc.) was at least once in the El Palacio De La Musica-Studios taking advantage of Daniel Grau's mastery. Just for the fun of it Grau asked some of the musicians who frequented the studio on a regular basis to use the free studio time to record some own songs and compositions under the name of „La Orquestra De Daniel Grau“.

Before becoming a solo star, Rory Gallagher fronted the blues-rock trio Taste, which experienced reasonable success in the U.K. in the late '60s and early '70s. Taste was molded very much on the model of Cream, adding some folk, pop, and jazz elements to a blues-rock base, and featuring a virtuosic guitarist. They weren't in the same league as Cream, particularly in the songwriting department, and were (like Cream) prone to occasional blues-rock bombast. But they weren't a bad band in their own right, exhibiting a lighter touch than most British blues boom outfits.

The choristers on this recording, from Westminster and Winchester, maintain that lineage, their voices blending seamlessly and naturally.

EMI Classics releases an exciting new recording of Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances and The Bells. These two Rachmaninov masterpieces, performed by one of the world’s most renowned orchestras under their celebrated principal conductor Sir Simon Rattle. This is a rare chance to hear Sir Simon’s interpretations of these great works. Towards the end of his life, the composer himself said of The Bells “I worked on this composition with feverish ardour; and it remains of all my works the one I love the most”. Of the Symphonic Dances, written shortly before his death, he said “I don’t know how it happened, it must have been my last spark”.

"South Wind" is a debut album of Uchu (Pavel Burylichev) - electronic producer and DJ from Moscow. These 8 chill-out tracks is a result of diligent work with sound, which came from careful self-education, curiosity and playing on gigs in Russia, India and Nepal. Uchu means "cosmos" in Japanese and Pavel’s music sounds like outer space - very deep, enigmatic and harmonious. Let this music play and you will feel that south wind blows from cold Russia too. You will be surrounded with warm swirling breeze of intelligent melodies, sophisticated bass-lines and fluid grooves…

As a rule, you can divide music into three categories – the kind that aims for the head, the kind that aims for the heart and the kind that aims for the hips. Forging two of those connections at once is pretty impressive, but connecting on all three? That’s a rare accomplishment indeed, one that Lucinda Williams manages on her 11th studio album, Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone.

Rush is one band with an overabundance of live CDs, home videos, and DVDs under their belt. But with a full-length live DVD issued in 2003 (Rush in Rio), was it overkill releasing another one just two years later? Realizing this, the band tried a slightly different approach on R30 (titled after the name of their 30th anniversary tour): one disc of a complete live show and a second disc of rarely seen archival footage. Recorded on September 24, 2004, in Frankfurt, Germany, disc one does a fine job of capturing modern-day Rush in concert.
