This live 1995 recording from New York's Village Vanguard club features drummer Paul Motian, guitarist Bill Frisell, and tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano turning in a stellar set of jazz covers and Motian originals (this is the same trio the drummer led in the late '80s and recorded high-profile tributes to Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, and Tin Pan Alley with). As the premium sound quality of the recording makes clear, this trio had an almost telepathic rapport on stage, inspiring each other in both ensemble playing and solo flights.

UFO guitarist and shred legend Vinnie Moore is getting back to his classic rock roots for his new band, Red Zone Rider. Moore is joined in RZR by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Kelly Keeling and drummer Scot Coogan. Red Zone Rider is reminiscent of some of the great heavy bands of the early 1970's: Led Zeppelin, Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad, and Rainbow. Red Zone Rider (RZR) has captured the sound and the feeling of music that not only defined an era but became the template for all heavy rock styles since then.

Not only the trombonist Nils Landgren has built up an enormous fan base over the decades – with his Funk Unit, with big bands and alongside the greats of jazz music – so has the vocalist Nils Landgren. His clear, throaty and yet mellow voice is very distinctive, and perfect for ballads. Apart from on his Christmas anthology "Christmas With My friends," it could also be admired on "The Moon, The Stars And You" that came out two years ago.

Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen was a Danish jazz upright bassist known for his impressive technique and innovative approach. By the age of fifteen, he had the ability to accompany leading musicians at nightclubs, working regularly at Copenhagen's Jazzhus Montmartre, after his debut there on New Year's Eve 1961, when he was only 15. When seventeen, he had already turned down an offer to join the Count Basie orchestra, mainly because he was too young to get legal permission to live and work as a musician in America.

Big Bang Theory is the fifteenth studio album by the band Styx, released in 2005. It consists of cover versions of classic rock songs. In 2004, Styx performed a cover of the Beatles song "I Am the Walrus" at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival, where the song was received so well that it was released as a single, reaching the Top 10 in the Mediabase Classic Rock charts. The video featured original bassist Chuck Panozzo as the "eggman". The single's success resulted in the band recording this album of cover songs. The album reached #46 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums, Styx's highest charting album in 14 years.
