Face to Face presents two brilliant French instrumentalists in a pairing as unusual as it is inspired. Accordionist Richard Galliano and Hammond organist Eddy Louiss make riveting and heartfelt music together. Their rapport is apparent from the very first notes of Louiss' "Sang Mêlé," played with percussive grit in a grooving 6/4. Thanks to Louiss' basslines, the sound is remarkably full, whether the duo is playing tango, bossa nova, or jazz. Space Prog band from Hungary with clear influences of Ozric Tentacles. Their music has strong grooves, textures and layers, on the best psychodelic / ethnic style. The techno drumming is heavily used. The band continued the trip with two more releases, the maxi CD "1.999" and "Via La Musica", the latter released in 2001, on which they confirmed the unique characteristics of ColorStar's accentuated drumming, funky (fretless) bass guitar, typical "floating" guitar themes, and vocals, creatively related with ethnic musics.

After two live dates cut for the long-suffering faithful, Fink – comprising singer/songwriter/guitarist Fin Greenall, bassist Guy Whittaker, and drummer Tim Thornton – offer their first new studio material in three years. Hard Believer is, for the most part, a slow burner; one that employs a more varied, albeit moodier set of textures and sounds than its predecessor, 2011's Perfect Darkness. Recorded at Hollywood Sound with producer/engineer Billy Bush (Garbage, Foster the People), the pace here is generally slow – even dirge-like in places – but the timbral palette that illustrates these melancholy songs puts them across in often unexpected ways.

Few Texas bluesmen have dominated their time and place as much as Lightnin' Hopkins. He was the leading performer of traditional Texas blues for over 35 years. In the first part of this video, Lighnin' talks of his career as a bluesman and creator of songs as well as being presented in both informal and concert performances.
Sam (Lightnin') Hopkins was born in Centerville, Texas, March 15th, 1912. Inspired by his brother, he took up guitar at an early age and as a youth met the legendary Blind Lemon Jefferson.

It's something that's happened to most of us and it's never very pleasant. I'm talking about friends growing apart. Sometimes people who were once close simply find themselves seeing each other or communicating less and less until the friendship somehow dissolves. I've had similar dissolutions with musical groups such as R.E.M. and U2. There was a time when I would wait with baited breath for their new releases, but as time went on, it got to where I didn't want to hear from them any longer (the new stuff at least). But, one of the most difficult relationships to break was with Metallica.
