    Françoise Madeleine Hardy (born 17 January 1944) is a French singer, actress and astrologer. Hardy is an iconic figure in fashion, music and style. She grew up in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, the daughter of an unmarried mother. She received a guitar on her sixteenth birthday as a reward for passing her baccalaureat. After a year at the Sorbonne she answered a newspaper advertisement looking for young singers. Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record "Oh Oh Chéri" appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous les garçons et les filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc…

    Tadeusz Baird (1928 – 1981) was a Polish composer. He was born in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, to Scottish immigrant parents. He studied composition, piano and musicology in Warsaw with, among others, Kazimierz Sikorski. In 1956, with Serocki, he founded the Warsaw Autumn international contemporary music festival. In 1974 he began to teach composition at the State College of Music (currently the Music Academy) in Warsaw.
    Baird's music is usually lyrical, very expressive, and intensely subjective. It is often rooted in the post-Romantic tradition, despite serial techniques.

Artyomov's compositions show his interest in the archaic ("Invocations", "Totem") and Christian motifs ("Requiem", "Ave, Maria") as well as Eastern meditation ("Awakening", "A Symphony of Elegies", "Moonlight Dreams").
    On this CD also Virko Baley's Violin Concerto No. 1, Valentin Silvestrov's Postludium for Piano and Orchestra and Charles Ives' The Fourth of July.

    Because the album doesn't quite fit in with Madonna's more familiar work, fans might be tempted to pass up I'M BREATHLESS, but that would mean missing out on an essential, oft-hidden side of Madonna as well as missing out on vocal performances that critics agree rank among her best. With tracks like "I'm Going Bananas" and "Hanky Panky," I'M BREATHLESS may be a Madonna oddity, but it's an oddity fans will want in their collection.
