A pupil of Shostakovich, Kara Karayev had a highly expressive, individual style infused with the harmonies and melodic characteristics of the music of his native Azerbaijan. Karayev’s 1964 Third Symphony combines elements of traditional Azerbaijani music, such as the five-hundredyear- old ashug melody, with contemporary compositional techniques. Leyla and Mejnun, one of Karayev’s most popular works, was inspired by the great twelfth-century Azerbaijani poet, Nizami, while Don Quixote is based on musical material for a film score. This is the first time that these works have appeared on compact disc.

    Death/Thrash Metal

Former MASSACRE and DEATH member Kam Lee hasn't let his time away from the limelight dampen his enthusiasm for all things gory, or rust his bloodsoaked vocal cords. He has, however, let some campy horror influences seep out since we saw him last — how else to explain the MISFITS chants and Saturday matinee monster movie goofiness that infuse the fun, funny and altogether death-rockin' "They Rise"?. Fans of SIX FEET UNDER, NECROPHAGIA, and ENTOMBED should check out DENIAL FIEND — their b-movie raveups are just a damn good time, mixing death-and-roll with plenty of meaty old-school Floridian death metal and hooks galore to impale the most demanding listener. Nothing too demanding, nothing revolutionary, just horror-punk death metal from beyond the grave that dares you not to headbang maniacally.

Produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, Wasting Light was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Grohl s home in California s San Fernando Valley. The no computers/no software back to basics approach has resulted in arguably the strongest and most cohesive effort of the band s 15-year-plus career: From first single Rope to the frenetic opener Bridge Burning to the beautifully bipolar These Days to stunning guest spots from Bob Mould ( Dear Rosemary") and Krist Novoselic ("I Should Have Known"), Wasting Light is a singular triumph: a band that s headlined arenas, stadiums and festivals the world over stripping itself down to the bare essentials and coming up with a world class band s finest hour.

All the music of Gerard is around the stunning keyboard wizard Toshio Ega - his work on hammond, korg and mellotron make envy every key player of of this planet. The music is mainly influence by ELP but with a good cantity of bombastic symphonic arrangements and neo prog moods. Anyway this album is not their best but enjoyble in places, i think the title track Irony of fate is the best here, features nice and smooth piano intro and than an absolute madness on keys, moog. The lyrics are in japanese so for the listners is a minus in Gerard's music…
