When you talk about Blues drumming you have to talk about Sam Lay the man who put the beat behind the Blues, truly a living legend. He worked with Howlin' Wolf, with whom he played both live and on countless hit records. He was with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and while with Butterfield backed Bob Dylan on his first electric gigs, including the infamous 1965 Newport Folk Festival. He also played drums on the Dylan's "Highway 61".
Sparkling minimalism of keys tells for itself and paints amusing pictures. They are made in two moods: light as an airy marshmallow or chilly wind and gloomy as evil thoughts or sudden storm clouds. The light part flashes in positive cheer and sustains the calm and monotonous atmosphere. When the darker side bursts the change in a perception is evident. The music can sound loud and solemn in an empty room, as an enigmatic ritual, dismal in times it forces you glance around for a moment. It is great soundtrack for a day with pressure drops, unsettled weather and mood swings. But this fragile obsession may over if you just pull the plug falling out into the reality.
The pagan death metal project Vinterblot took shape in Bari (Italy) in winter 2008 due to the initiative of such musicians as Vandrer, Wolf, Eruner and Fjorgynn, who would lately bid welcome to the singer Phanaeus from death metal band Mharbh. Their music is to be rated as a merger between the European death metal tradition and the typical dark mood featuring black metal and ambient music, whose atmospheres are the solid ground on which themes like the constant relation between the man , his darkest sides and the myth are based.
