The Levitation Hex was born in March 2010 by Adam Agius (Vocals, Guitars, Programming) after the collapse of Alchemist. The initial intention of TLH was to create a heavy psychedelic prog sound similar to Alchemist but at the same time a completely new beast. Mark Palfreyman (Alarum) was the first to jump on board adding Bass and Vocal duties followed soon by Ben Hocking (Aeon of Horus) on Drums and Scott Young (ex-Alarum) on Guitars .The Levitation Hex intend to create the heaviest prog metal possible and 2012 is the year they unleash their live show. Album is out now and Live Shows will commence August 2012 with an Australian tour, a trip to Prog Power Europe in Baarlo Holland followed by an extensive European Tour in October 2012.
Technical brutal death metal from this California band. Made up of members of Brain Drill, Flesh Consumed and Rings of Saturn, amongst others, it's clear this band are hardly novices when dealing with the weightiest of all metals.
Richard Galliano has recorded several tristesse fests in his time, but at his best he's a creative composer and improviser who has a gift for non-generic orchestration and who is at home with a variety of atmospheres and emotions, including the happy and the optimistic. Luz Negra, recorded with his Tangaria Quartet and his first studio album since 2001's Face To Face (Dreyfus Jazz), presents Galliano at his very best, and anyone with an aversion to accordion music would do well to check it out.
Dr. Goodvibe are music alchemists, fashioning an original voice in contemporary music from a broad palette of influences, derived from a multiplicity of musical styles. The music is an upbeat blend of sonic colours tailored from their interest in funk, blues, Latin, jazz, country and even classical styles. Edu Valk is a unique and diverse singer songwriter whose philosophical and often satirical commentary on life openly elucidates his heart. The eternal optimist, Edu's music is raw, honest and uplifting, with comparisons as diverse as David Gray, Jack Johnson, Dave Graney, Van Morrison, Lou Reed and JJ Cale – just to name a few. Nominated for Best Male vocalist in 2004, ABC Newcastle Music Awards.
Written by Giovanni Paisiello during his lengthy stay at the court of Catherine II, the opera was an enormous success and was still very famous at the time of the composer’s death the same year of Rossini’s Barbiere debut, strongly opposed by many who considered the work of the upstart to be a sacrilegious attack on the memory of Paisiello. The reductive transposition for libretto – probably the work of Giuseppe Petrosellini – of the play “Le barbier de Séville” by Pierre-Augustin de Beaurmarchais, successfully presented in St. Petersburg a few years earlier, determined the international success of the subject: the second text of the French trilogy gained the attention of Mozart, who proposed it to Da Ponte for Le nozze di Figaro (1786)…
In this album, Willie "Sonny Boy" King often performs pounding out sparse rhythms on his drum set as he sings and plays his harmonica and guitar.Willie "Sonny Boy" King performs in the one-man blues band musical tradition. He was born July 14th, 1930 in Lyons County, Alabama. Willie began playing the guitar as a teenager and has earned his living as a musician his entire life. He performed at house parties, fish fries, clubs, wherever folks gathered to have a good time. Willie has spent time up in Detroit but most of his life has been spent in Alabama where he fathered and raised 33 children.
One of the brightest talents on the contemporary blues scene, guitarist Willie Lomax is an intelligent songwriter who brings a sharp and fresh voice to his blues-based songs, while managing at the same time to ground them in the rich blues history of the past. Lomax's tunes don't sound written so much as newly unearthed, and a lot of the credit should go, as well, to singer Shawn Brown, whose Memphis-styled vocals (and his Hammond B-3 playing) on this album are a revelation….
Kasabian took the British press by storm in the early 2000s by mixing traces of the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and Primal Scream with Oasis-sized confidence and DJ Shadow-influenced electronics. Named after Linda Kasabian, Charles Manson's getaway driver turned state witness, the Leicester-based group also stole a page from the Band by moving into a remote farmhouse to brew its music. Communal life and a slew of shared influences produced an electronic, rock-oriented sound that harked back to the Madchester days of baggy pants and druggy dancing.
Letters from the Underground was the Levellers' 13th album since they burst onto the punk-folk scene in 1990 with their debut, A Weapon Called the Word. No longer a group to rush into the studio when the bandmembers felt they had something to say, by 2008 the Levellers preferred to gig live and face their audience directly. In fact, this was their first album to chart since 2000's Hello Pig and the first on their new record label, On the Fiddle Recordings, which seemed apt – as most of the songs were dominated by the sound of Jon Sevink and his fiddle…
