Jethro Tull's first album, THIS WAS, recorded and released in 1968, shows a band that is a far cry from their better-known incarnation as a prog rock outfit in the late 1970s. Instead, Tull come across here as a solid and talented blues band with elements of jazz, folk, and psychedelia thrown in. The band's sound was heavily influenced by guitarist, singer, and songwriter Mick Abrahams, whose bluesy singing and leads distinguish this disc in Tull's discography. Frontman Ian Anderson also shines with tunes like "Some Day the Sun Won't Shine for You" and the excellent cover of Rashaan Roland Kirk's "Serenade to a Cuckoo."

Ready to Strike is the first album by the band King Kobra. It was released on November 9, 1985. The music here is a fairly decent slab of melodic, 80's pop metal. For this style this CD is fairly heavy as well; hanging with the likes of Dokken and Rough Cutt . While their sound is slightly generic, the band manages to write some decent anthems that make the CD very enjoyable. Vocalist Mark Free has a decent set of pipes to boot, which really pushes this CD over the edge.

TDK presents an impressive staging of one of Rossini’s opera masterpieces. This production, staged by La Scala Milan is conducted by Riccardo Muti. Moïse et Pharaon - Rossini’s re-adaptation of the story of Moses in Egypt - emphasizes the dramatic moments of the biblical account beautifully and also demonstrates the composer‘s mastery of the French tradition: solos and choral work are superb compositions, the duets are expressive and touching. Including an extensive ballet scene at the beginning of Act III and featuring a preeminent international cast of singer-actors – Erwin Schrott, Barbara Frittoli, Sonia Ganassi - this recording brings a Rossini experience of the highest rank onto the screen…

The chamber music of Sir John Blackwood McEwen is most likely an unknown quantity for the vast majority of listeners. In fact the entire corpus of this underestimated composer is probably unexplored territory for all but the most persistent of British Music enthusiasts. To be fair some people will be aware of the odd piano piece or maybe one of the tone poems. It is perhaps the string quartets that best allow us to see the achievement of McEwen. He wrote nineteen examples of this form. The first was composed in 1893 and the last in the year before his death.

The Afterman: Descension is the upcoming seventh studio album by progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria. It is the second part of a double album, the first part of which is The Afterman: Ascension. The band took seven months to record the albums between 2011 and 2012, and announced a February 5, 2013 release date later in 2012. The album follows the Amory Wars storyline, and concentrates on the character Sirius Amory.

Straight Out of Hell is the upcoming fourteenth studio album by German power metal band Helloween. The album is due to be released on 18 January 2013 and was produced by Charlie Bauerfeind. A version of the track "Burning Sun" featuring a Hammond organ was dedicated to longtime Deep Purple organist Jon Lord, and is included as a bonus track on the limited edition version of the album
