…In sum, this is a disc that's easy to recommend for its consistently engaging music and first-rate performances–but it's also a recording that you can turn way up and enjoy full-bodied, undistorted, viscerally present instrumental sound. A winner!

Commandos is the second studio album by Norwegian hard rock band Stage Dolls. Like the first album it was recorded at Nidaros Studios in Trondheim, Norway using the same producer, Bjørn Nessjø, and engineer, Rune Nordahl. Commandos has a more mature sound and it charted for 11 weeks, peaking at no.8 on the Norwegian albumcharts (VG). Making the band one of the most popular rockbands in Norway in 1986. The band also started to get attention outside of Norway and 'Commandos' was released in the US by BigTime Records. The title track gained considerable airplay on college-radio in the US.

Hymns/Spheres, the original double LP from which the four pieces here are drawn, was perhaps too long and somewhat self-indulgent, and ultimately risked tedium. Yet the album contained some of the most transcendent music Keith Jarrett has recorded. In 1976, he came upon the mighty Trinity Organ, built by Karl Joseph Riepp (1710-1775) at the Benedictine Abbey in Ottobeuren, and proceeded to extend its already awesome capabilities by experimenting with partial openings of its stops. The result was an array of eerie tonalities with which he could accomplish a memorable contribution to the long tradition of organ improvisation. The opening section of the nine-part "Sphere" (four selections of which comprise this release) is a grand, piercing, and elevating summoning of shadowy recesses of the spirit, and of their liberation in devotion to whatever one's gods.

Eric Clapton‘s 1977 album Slowhand is being released as a super deluxe edition box set (and other formats) on 19 November to celebrate its 35th anniversary. The album includes of two of Clapton’s best known songs Wonderful Tonight, and the cover of J.J. Cale’s Cocaine. The Super Deluxe box set includes three previously unreleased session outtakes (four in total) and two CDs are devoted to presenting the complete 14-track performance of the Hammersmith Odeon concert on 27 April 1977. The record has been remastered from the original Olympic Studios 1/4″ flat analog master tapes and the session tracks and live performances are newly mixed from the original two-inch analogue tapes. This all sounds very promising from a sound perspective. Probably the most exciting aspect is the audio-only DVD that comes only with this super deluxe box. This disc offers the album in 5.1 surround sound (not hi-res) and a hi-res stereo version.

Jorn's release for 2013 is called Symphonic, a compilation of previous recordings with classical music arrangement."It was a spontaneous idea that is now put to life, as I thought it would be interesting to hear how some selected Jorn recordings would sound with a classical orchestral arrangement. The classical arrangements were added to the already existing studio versions, but some songs were remixed to give more room to the orchestra. I didn't want to choose the most obvious Jorn songs, as I didn't want this album to come out as a typical "best of" release, so the songs were chosen with this thought in mind."
