lbum of the great Spanish songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat. This is the one that is certainly his most recognized, published in 1971 on LP and now reissued in 2000. It includes some of his most popular songs. All of the subjects were composed (lyrics and music) by Serrat -except the lyrics of the song 'Vencidos', taken from the Spanish poet León Felipe. The arrangements, however, correspond to the musicians Juan Carlos Calderón, Gian Piero Reverberi and Antoni Ros-Marbà, of which the first two took the musical direction. This album was considered the third best of twentieth century Spanish music by music magazine Rockdelux in 2002.
When Wolfgang Rihm composed the 'Fragmenta Passionis', in 1968, this 16-year old artist was already a ‘compositional force’ that seemed beyond any doubt in terms of critical consciousness. Two further compositions, the 'Sieben Passions-texte' of 2001-06 and the major half-hour-long work 'Astralis' of 2001, feature on the present recording alongside the early choral work.
Imagine! What if these two recolutionary musical forces of all time were to meet face to face? What would happen? Would they talk about music? Play their latest compositions? Discuss philosophy? Since this association in impossible, presented here are some of the most popular songs of The Beatles improvised as Johann Sebastian bach might have.
For one reason or another, Cream reunited in the spring of 2005, setting aside nearly 40 years of acrimony for a series of gigs at the Royal Albert Hall in May, which was later followed by a few shows at Madison Square Garden about a month after souvenirs of the London shows – a double-CD set and…
The Haunting song of the whales invites us to explore the very depths of our being. This album is one of Terry’s most brilliant classics; His flute playing is so profoundly moving that it seems to draw us ever closer to a deeper communion with nature and that elusive sense of belonging for which we all yearn.
All Fired Up is the second album by the hard rock band Fastway. It was released in 1984. The follow-up to the debut came only a year later and followed in similar tracks to the original. Like the debut, Kiss/Jimi Hendrix producer Eddie Kramer was brought in to produce. Together they created an album with just a bit more depth than the debut. Some songs had a strong blues-rock vibe, such as "Telephone" and "Station". Others have hard driving Led Zeppelin vibe. "Hurtin Me" in particular had a very Zeppelin-esque sound.
Greek symphonic metallers NIGHTFALL have completed work on their new album, "Cassiopeia", for a January 2013 release through Metal Blade Records.According to a press release, "more than on the previous album, 'Astron Black & The Thirty Tyrants', in 'Cassiopeia' the spirit of old school heavy metal lurks in almost every riff. Unlike 'Astron Black', there are more fast tempos as well as grindy ones bringing memories back from the mid-'90s times of now-cult release 'Athenian Echoes'. The vocals remain very, very heavy and, thanks to Soundflakes' amazing gear and Jörg Uken's super mixing skills, fit great with the melodic leads, moreover creating a solid wall of sound where vocalist Efthimis comfortably sts and spreads his inner daemons out to the world!"
The Giant X project was formed by the two German guitarists and songwriters Peter Joy Jordan and Rolf Kasparek. The latter better known as Rock'N Rolf - founder and creator of your all-time favorite pirate metal band, RUNNING WILD. Jorden joined the merry-jolly crew of pirates in 2005 and the lads decided to record this side-project as the tribute to late seventies and (mostly) eighties party hard rock.
To run parallel with his complete Haydn series, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is now starting a complete, chronological cycle of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. This first set covers the sonatas composed in the 1790s. Two further volumes, of middle and late sonatas, will follow in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
