Wither are a band from Australia that mixes depressive black metal with funeral doom and "Necropolis" is their 2012 new album. Featuring a very diverse and depressing sound, this band will surely put you on suicide watch after listening to 50 minutes of brilliant Funeral Doom with some Black Metal and Gothic Rock elements. With elements from bands like Katatonia and the Russian Gothic/Doom band Autumn, this Aussie band has a very well defined sound that is extremely emotional.
TELLUS REQUIEM (A Norwegian Progressive Metal Band), was formed in 2007 by guitarist Stig Nergård.The music can be described as Progressive metal, with influences of Eastern Folk music, and epic film scores. Very melodic with vocal melodies that glue all the crazy phrasings together! Some more obvious influences are; Symphony X, Opeth, Megadeth, Film scores and classical contemporary music. If Symphony X and 18th century German composer Richard Wagner made a baby, it might sound like one of the colors on the surface of TellusImagine the Requiem! ellus Requiem means; "The earths death mass." Tellus being Latin for The Earth, Requiem being the last composition a composer writes before they died. The main theme of the the bands musings is about Worlds Shattering. This can either be global, personal, fictional or literary. Leaving it open to interpretation.
Beyond Boundaries is seemingly a concept album which I can only interpret as being about our perceptions and awareness of life and our relationships to it. Our perceptions of ourselves, our lives, and our world, and our relationships with those we love, and with everyone around us, as well as with nature and life in general…
…The complete recording of Egon Wellesz’ works for piano presented here is the first full anthology of the works from 1909 to 1969. Viennese pianist Margarete Babinsky created it in co-operation with the Egon Wellesz Foundation Vienna – a fascinating journey through the entire 20th century.
Paul Bley Trio - Paul Bley (p); Mark Levinson (b); Barry Altschul (dr). Recorded live at "Hildebrandzzal", Haarlem, NL, 4.11.1966.
The most relevant stages in Paul Bley’s musical works were however his trio formations. The bassists Steve Swallow, Eddie Gomez, Kent Carter or Mark Levinson and the drummers Pete LaRoca, Barry Altschul or Paul Motian played with him. This live recording at a concert in Haarlem, Holland is a good example at the "mastery" at a Paul Bley trio.
Portuguese writer José Luís Peixoto wrote a novel, O Antídoto (The Antidote in Portuguese) that came out at the same time as the album. They both share the same story and concept and each chapter of the book is meant to go with its corresponding song on the album. There was also a special edition included the book in electronic format.
