These 2 shows by the Jarrett trio filmed live in Tokyo in 1993 and 1996. The material was previously released as single DVDs but has been now out of print for several years. The discs were originally issued, separately, as Live At Open Theater East 1993 and Trio Concert 1996. The 1993 set is an open air concert that tackles a large slice of jazz history from "Basin Street Blues" to Sonny Rollins' "Oleo", Jarrett's own "The Cure" and much more. The 1996 date is the filmed footage that corresponds to the trio's "Tokyo '96" CD but adds extra material.

"Blues violinist Sugarcane Harris is on fire during this 1973 studio session for BASF, which features many of his regular collaborators of the period. Harris, who wrote all of the material heard on the date, mixes elements of jazz, country, and rock into his brand of blues. He is brilliant in the midtempo blues "Runnin' Away". "Hattie's Bathtub" is a catchy blues waltz. But it is the extended composition "Cup Full of Dreams" that showcases Harris' lyricism on his instrument." KenDryden@allmusic.com

It is unusual when two iconic musical influences have a deep-rooted history. Bob Dylan revolutionized the folk industry in the early sixties. Around the same time, a group consisting of four Canadians and one U.S. Southerner were cutting their rock and roll teeth as the back-up band to Ronnie Hawkins. An epiphany for rock and roll occurred at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival when Dylan went electric and outraged the folk community. A subsequent tour supported by The Hawks (later renamed The Band) became a watershed moment for modern music.

Released in a distant 1979, "Gammapolis" is a definite pinnacle in a long career of one of the Europe's most distinctive and influential bands. This album closes cycle of poetic and dreamy space rock albums released in mid-seventies - "Nem Tudom A Neved", "Idorablo" and "Czillagok Utian". "Gammapolis" was and still is an unsurpassed body of work of collective genius of Hungarian music wizards-and holds extremely well against test of time-after almost quarter of century since original release in a distant 1979.

"Vertikal", the new studio album from Swedish "art rockers" CULT OF LUNA, will be released in Europe on January 25 via Indie Recordings and in the U.S. on January 29, 2013 through Density Records. In addition to the regular CD, there will be released a limited edition of "Vertikal", including one bonus track. According to a press release, "Vertikal" marks a much-anticipated return for the band after five years spent cultivating the ideas and directing the influences that have helped form a concept for the album. Distilled throughout are themes of machinery, repetition and clear, linear structures honed to the visual imagery of Fritz Lang's classic expressionist science fiction film "Metropolis". The music broods, builds and boils as you may expect from CULT OF LUNA, but never overcomplicates itself or veers from its intentions; it is arguably their finest and most cohesive piece of work to date.

The project At The Dawn was born in spring 2011 in Imola,a small town near Bologna, which has a long and rich tradition of metal,from 'idea of Michele Viaggi (former founder of Conspiracy). International Magic Live at The O2 is the debut video album by English rock band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Released on 13 October 2012, the album documents the band's performance at The O2 Arena in London on 26 February 2012, as part of their High Flying Birds Tour.

IV is American rock band Winger's first album of new studio material since 1993's Pull. According to frontman Kip Winger, one morning he "just woke up and heard the new Winger record" in his head, knowing just what he wanted to do with it.

…Either way, it doesn't matter, since WYSIWYG delivers far more than anyone could have expected, especially anyone that considered the group one-hit wonders. It may cover too much ground and be too sprawling for tubthumpers, but it's pretty smart and tuneful and often funny. It'll inevitably sound dated, possibly just two years after its release, but it's a pretty fun snapshot of the end of the American century.

Glazunov’s symphonies hover on the edge of the repertoire. You almost never see them programmed in live concerts, but every couple of decades a complete cycle comes out. Curiously, none of the Russian recordings are very good. The performances are uniformly heavy and dull, whereas Glazunov’s music, symphonic or not, demands a balletic lilt and a light touch. His symphonies are full of good tunes and are beautifully crafted, but despite exciting moments they aren’t terribly dramatic and so need to played swiftly and vivaciously.
