This collection is a great overview of this period and is suggested for those who don't want to wade through the chaff in order to get the gems. This captures the band when they were mere kids looking to become the monsters they later became.

Swedish singer Tony Niva is a veteran musician who started his musical career in 1987 fronting many cult bands such as Zanity, Axia and Swedish Erotica but he's probably best known for being the lead singer in Lion's Share. But Tony also runs his own band NIVA with two recordings under its belt, the first from 1994 featuring the collaboration of Europe's drummer Ian Haugland. Now he's back with a brand new Niva album; "Magnitude".

Chocolat, commonly stylized as ChoColat, is a South Korean girl group created by Paramount Music in 2011. Their group name means "Chocolate" in French. The concept behind the group's name is that each member would remind different types of chocolate, the name was initially set to be Chocolate, however there was an existent group with the same name, so Paramount Music decided to use its french translation, naming the group Chocolat and thus discerning them from the group. The group consists of four members: three are mixed race Korean, (Juliane, Tia, Melanie), and the other one is Korean (Min Soa).

Ohio metallers who straddled the line between accessible hard rock and slightly thrashy (at times) metal, Damien scored some minor MTV play with their early work, then disappeared from recording (during which time several members came and went) before reforming and releasing the essentially self-financed Angel Juice (somewhat more metallic than previous work) before calling it a day. Nothing terribly original here, but enjoyable nonetheless.

The Brabant Ensemble, better known for uncovering works by forgotten composers such as Dominique de Phinot, turns to a giant of the Renaissance—perhaps the most celebrated name of the period. Yet within Palestrina’s huge output there are many hidden gems, lacking both recordings and modern performing editions, and it is from among these that the ensemble’s director Stephen Rice has chosen the repertoire for this album. A Mass—Missa Ad coenam Agni, from Palestrina’s first book of Mass-settings—is included, plus antiphons, motets and five Eastertide Offertories. Each work is, as Stephen Rice states in his typically informative booklet notes, ‘a finely crafted addition to the liturgy’.

Album performed under the musical direction of American composer, arranger and conductor Hugo Montenegro (New York, 1925-1981). The work was recorded in Nashville, using a set of local musicians who had the opportunity to interpret the imaginative arrangements of Montenegro on subjects country and western popular in those years. The orchestral set was composed by an overspill strings section plus wind instruments, piano and percussion.

Album recorded in a special live session held one night in December 1959 in the Grand Ballroom of Grossinger's Catskill Resort Hotel, now extinct since 1986, at the town of Liberty, near New York. Before an enthusiastic audience of 1,200 people Tito Puente conducted his orchestra Tito that night creating a specific program dedicated to dance in which joined two pieces specially created and dedicated to the hotel complex. This is a rare and disappeared recording monographically devoted to dance cha cha.
