When Big Country took to the stage at the Grugahalle in Essen for the German TV series Rockpalast in March 1986 they were at the peak of their commercial success on the back of their UK No. 1 album "Steeltown" and the release of their follow up "The Seer" just a few months in the future. The show captures everything that was good about Big Country, the soaring guitar, the great songs, the powerhouse rhythm section and Stuart Adamson's charismatic performance as the band's frontman.

In Extremo (Latin: At the Edge) is a German medieval metal band originating from Berlin. The band’s musical style combines metal with medieval traditional songs, blending the sound of the standard rock/metal instruments with historical instruments (such as bagpipes, harp, hurdy-gurdy and shawm). Versions of well-known traditional/medieval ballads make up the main part of their repertoire, but the band has written an increasing share of original material in recent years. Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action is the album Franz Ferdinand should have made after their self-titled debut. Not that You Could Have It So Much Better and Tonight didn't have their charms; the former showed there was more breadth and depth to their music than might have been expected, while the latter delved into dub and disco with intriguing, if somewhat unfocused results. Still, neither album had Franz Ferdinand's impact. On Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action, it often feels like the band channeled the energy they used to spend on expanding their sound into making this the most concentrated burst of what attracted fans to them in the first place. "Right Action" sets the tone, seemingly curbing the experimental tendencies of Franz's past two albums in favor of angular guitars and alternately snazzy and sleazy brass.

In 1968 the choreographer George Balanchine made a ballet from two works by Xenakis Metastaseis and Pithoprakta and the following year he commissioned Xenakis to compose an original score for New York City Ballet. Antikhthon turned out to be one of the great might-have-been collaborations: Xenakis completed the score in 1971, but the work was never staged. The concept of Antikhthon Anti-Earth or Counter-Earth was first proposed by the Pythagorean philosopher Philolaus of Croton around 400 BC. He speculated that there was a Counter-Earth a hypothetical heavenly body that revolved with the earth around a Central Fire. This led to Philolaus being credited as one of the first to propose that the Earth was not the centre of the universe, but that it was in an orbit around the Sun (Central Fire), with the other planets.

In 2012, David Lang spent so much time racking up awards — from Carnegie Hall’s 2013-14 Debs Composer’s Chair to Musical America’s Composer of the Year — that it’s a wonder he was able to wrangle a project of the size and scope of death speaks. Commissioned by Carnegie Hall and Stanford Lively Arts to go on a program with his piece the little match girl passion, death speaks draws its initial inspiration from the work of Schubert — specifically the song “Death and the Maiden.”

…For the moment Munyon has become some kind of American cult hero in Germany and other parts of Europe, he is completely unknown in his own country. For me he is one of the top 10 singer-songwriters alive today in the US. If there is someone deserving your immediate attention in this field it is Munyon. I can't believe anyone who likes Americana, Folk music, or singer-songwriters in general, can be disappointed by Munyon's honest approach and wonderful music…
