After a decent number of fairly successful records consisting of four studio albums, along with several demos and EPs, Roman Metallers STORMLORD return with an awe-inspiring masterpiece.The group uses keyboards and orchestrations to give their songs an epic, melodic atmosphere. This, combined with long and powerful guitar riffs, various vocal styles (harsh, opera and growled), extremely fast and aggressive drumming, gives their songs a feeling of both peace and power.

DARK ESSENCE RECORDS is set to release an album with different SHINING songs that hark back to an earlier era for the band. Rather than simply re-issue the original tracks, SHINING has decided not only to re-record the songs, but re-record them using a number of different vocalists. The album, which will be available in both CD and LP versions will be titled “8 ½ – Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd” and will appear in September of this year.

Their second album. The music on here is raw, straightforward thrash metal the way it used to be played in the early 80s. There is a big influence from Destruction present, and to a lesser extent from Sodom's first few records, and the album reminds one of the two bands. The lyrics are based on the readings of H.P. Lovecraft. So you know the songs are dark and twizted. This is a great album and worth checking out, way ahead of their time. Necronomicon - the Thrash Cult…

Legendary Teutonic band from first wave of European Thrash Metal. Necronomicon was one of a handful of German speed/thrash bands that starting making noise in the mid/late eighties. Surprisingly, the band remains largely intact to this day, though they have recorded infrequently after releasing a trio of basic albums in the 80's and with one album in the 90's. This album sounds hungry for evil intent, the music is pretty basic old Sodom/Hellhammer/Destruction style but it definitely has a touch of evil about it, something non existent today. One of the best examples of old school 80's thrash metal!

A live document of the Brian Jones-era Rolling Stones sounds enticing, but the actual product is a letdown, owing to a mixture of factors, some beyond the producers' control and other very much their doing. The sound on the original LP was lousy – which was par for the course on most mid-'60s live rock albums – and the remasterings have only improved it marginally, and for that matter not all of it's live; a couple of old studio R&B covers were augmented by screaming fans that had obviously been overdubbed.

The great flamenco guitarist Manolo Sanlúcar offers one of his most recognized records, 'Tauromagia', perhaps the best of his career and one of the best in the history of flamenco guitar. Manolo Sanlúcar himself says that between all his work, the only thrilling discs are 'Locura de brisa y trino', 'Tauromagia' and 'Medea'. This album is an undeniable milestone of flamenco music. It represents a musical journey of the author by the world of bullfighting art, combining guitars and vocals (with chorus of strings, brass and percussion), who shelled essential moments of the bullfight. It's a record full of beauty, emotion, balance and style, essential in any flamenco disco.

…The piano sounds brilliant and thrilling, with impeccable nuance and detail, so that everything from the vicious percussive moments of the Prokofiev to the lovely, water color like impressionism of Iberia comes through with incredible clarity and precision. What's also quite remarkable about these tracks is their often astonishing dynamic range. Lang Lang coaxes everything from the quietest whisper to the loudest explosion out of his Steinway, and both DTS tracks recreate that sonic variety wonderfully well. Lang Lang is one of the vanguard artists of his generation, and this sterling concert shows him off brilliantly. With a near perfect video presentation and a perfect audio one, this certainly augurs well for Lang Lang's new partnership with Sony. Highly recommended.
