Phillip Boa & the Voodooclub were formed in the western part of germany in 1985 by Phillip and vocalist/keyboardist 'Pia Lund', later joined by percussionist / voodoodrummer 'The Voodoo' (all 3 had just entered university where they met ) and drummer / programmer 'Der Rabe'. They released their first album 'Philister' in the same year on their own Constrictor label and received excellent reviews in their home-country, where it soon topped the indie-charts.

Part harmonica wizard and part rhythmic explorer, Harper is a fiery artist who blurs the lines between rock, blues, soul, and world music. His latest Blind Pig release, Stand Together, is the most artistically realized CD Harper has ever written.The self-produced album marks the first time Harper has recorded a CD using his Michigan-based touring band, Midwest Kind, a collaboration that pays several dividends. For one, he was able to go deeper into the song arrangements, incorporating some of the interplay of their live performances. And his close relationship with his band members enabled him to craft exactly what he envisioned his songs to be. Though Harper has already been acknowledged as an exemplary composer, his current songwriting has matured and his messages have become more powerful. The greater confidence and polish that come as a result of his non-stop touring schedule have only enhanced his considerable skills as a singer and harmonica player. And his proficiency as a didgeridoo player has increased dramatically since picking up the instrument in 2004.

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark's eponymous debut and its follow-up, ORGANISATION, were pioneering synth-pop albums. However, some of the sonic experiments sounded forced and the band's ideas occasionally seemed to outstrip their abilities. That's definitely not the case here. Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys integrate their electronics gracefully into the format of the pop song, and Malcolm Cooper's live drums do much to keep the album from sounding too machine-made.
The album's centerpiece is the two-part "Joan of Arc"/"Maid of Orleans" suite, OMD's most memorable, as well as prettiest, achievement at that point. The single "Souvenir" is nearly the equal of those two songs, and the eight-minute atmospheric exploration "Sealand" shows the duo's experimental bent remains strong.

Bless Its Pointed Little Head is a live album by Jefferson Airplane recorded at both the Fillmore East and West in the fall of 1968 and released in 1969. Five songs on the album had not appeared on any of the band's previous studio recordings. The songs that did appear on previous albums, however, are now completely transformed into much heavier versions. Highlights of the album include Jack Casady's walking line bass playing which dominates the entire set and the blues number "Rock Me Baby" which is a harbinger of Casady's and Kaukonen's later band Hot Tuna. Of particular interest is the musician lineup on the Donovan cover "Fat Angel", which demonstrates the versatility of the band. Marty Balin plays bass, Casady is the rhythm guitarist while Kaukonen and Kantner share the lead guitar duties. more…
